A lift zooms you up to a smart apartment: lovely furniture, swanky bathroom, local art. In the heart of Edinburgh but it's so quiet up here

Opposite the National Museum and next to the court building and bars of Chamber Street, this smartly contemporary apartment is a super retreat from the bustle of town. A lift whisks you to the door, from where birch floors spread to interlinked rooms. The hall has an armchair for weary shoppers, and bits of lovely furniture from Peter's family. Up here on the second floor you're away from road noise and big windows bring in the light. The living, kitchen and dining space is minimal yet comfortable with a mix of modern furniture and antiques. You have a great bedroom with bold wallpaper and books to dip in to, and a seriously swanky bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and star-like lighting. Subtle tartan throws on the sofas, local art and a welcoming whisky remind you of where you are, while Peter's friendly greeting makes you feel at home. You won't be short of things to do, within a ten-minute walk are great restaurants, pubs for folk music lovers and a farmer's market for foodies; in festival time there are performances on your doorstep. Tuck into your welcome breakfast, then set out to discover Scotland's handsomest city.

"We spent 3 days in Edinburgh at the Chambers Street apartment. It couldn't have been more perfect. The apartment is beautiful, comfortable, and very centrally located. Peter is a wonderful host. I highly recommend this place."

"This was our second visit to the Chambers Street Apartment and we love it! It's stylish, spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. Easy walking distance to and from all the main sites and a good stroll to Botanic Gardens. Plenty of excellent places to eat and drink nearby. First visit we came by car and could park in Chambers Street. 2nd visit, easy walk up from Waverley Station. We hope to come again......."

"This is the fourth year we have rented this ideally located apartment. It is very central with all the main theatres and attractions only 10 minutes walk away, and the National Museum of Scotland is opposite. It is a light, spacious, comfortable and very well appointed with everything one needs, beautifully clean on arrival - and the owner thoughtfully leaves a good selection of the basics in the fridge, milk, juice, croissants etc - and a decanter of single malt to make one feel immediately 'at home'. For a central location the apartment is quiet and private. I would highly recommend it."

"This is an absolutely beautiful apartment. Right in the centre of the city. It is so comfortable it is almost a shame to have to get yourself out of it to see Edinburgh. A big thank you to Pete who was extremely helpful while we were there."

"We had a very warm welcome and a great introduction to the apartment. The owner even had a breakfast starter kit prepared and there we were in the middle of the town! The apartement is ideal to discover Edinburgh: Shops, the best restaurants, museums and pubs are in walking distance. We had the most lovely time and would defnitely come back! Not only because of the apt, also because of Pete, who is helpful and generous. "

"A beautiful, modern, light and welcoming apartment. My husband, daughter and I stayed for 5 nights and we loved the location, the proximity to local restaurants and shops, the outlook onto the courtyard and church and all the creature comforts of home available to us. Peter the owner was very accommodating and assisted us on a number of occasions during our stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to a couple or small family. It was a very relaxing place to complete our 3 week holiday in the U.K. "

"The apartment is spacious and stylish and very well presented. It was warm and welcoming with attention to the details that make you feel looked after: tea, coffee, fruit, things for first breakfast and some malt whisky. It was well-heated and the bathroom is really great. Location is really convenient for station, shops and enjoying all that Edinburgh has to offer. "

"This is a fantastic apartment in a brilliant position: bright, spacious and scrupulously clean and well cared-for. Peter has a real eye for detail and is generous with his time and welcome-pack. We have stayed here three years running and have recommended it to friends who, like us, have already re-booked it for next summer. We are frequent visitors to Edinburgh and Chambers Street Apartment is by far the best place we've stayed in. Highly recommended!"
