The Experience

Come for a lovely old laid-back stone house, with pretty views of fields and hills. Here lives Sheila, with cats and ducks! You can share the family’s living space or retreat to the guest sitting room, but summer evenings are usually spent outside, drinking in the scents and peace. Breakfasts with delicious fig, cherry and apricot jams set you up for the festivals and flower markets of Aix (6km). Return to comfortable beds on carpeted floors and ceiling fans to keep you cool. Time it right (from May to October) and you can join in with the lavender and olive harvests: great fun.

Reviews

We just returned from a lovely stay at Les Arnauds. Very well situated in the countryside 5 minutes from Aix, close to Luberon, Marseille, and Avignon, we were able to visit and enjoy many of the sites and sounds of Provence. We will surely return as soon as we can. Sheila was great and also recommended a wonderful B&B for us in Paris, in a nice quite home, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A bientot Sheila.

Rick, Vancouver

Just returned from a lovely long weekend staying at Les Arnauds. Being in a beautiful place in the hills just outside of Aix was much quieter and more peaceful than being in the centre, and there's a small bus right to the centre, though it doesn't run late in the evening. The pool with a view is very pleasant, and the room was comfortable - top quality pure cotton bed linen was a nice touch. Lovely garden, and delicious strawberries for breakfast. Sheila is very helpful - she offered a couple of lifts and organised cabs and a good restaurant out of town. Extremely enjoyable stay.

Linden, London

Great place to stay on outskirts of Aix en Provence. Bus service just down the road into centre of Aix(but be aware that last bus back from town is 1920). Sheila is v welcoming. Breakfast is excellent, on terrace if weather is fine. No other meals available but Sheila is happy for you to picnic and to put wine in the fridge to cool. Rooms are large, cool and comfy. Definitely a place to return to.

Hattie

Just off the beaten track, Les Arnauds sits on the hills of Provence. We were greeted by the charming son of the owner who went above and beyond by helping us with restaurant reservations and taxi's. The house is cozy and we felt very comfortable coming and going with the owner being friendly but not overbearing. The breakfast was fresh, simple and delicious. Pastries, bread, home made jams and coffee while looking over the beautiful lavender garden. Even the friendly pets made us feel at home! We would definitely consider staying here again and recommend it to anyone else.

Olivia

At first felt a little bit unsure - hostess rather business like. However, room was lovely and beautiful views. We were given very good guidance to a restaurant which was very good. Felt much more relaxed next morning and had a lovely chat with Sheila. This is a beautiful spot but the private road is not very good.
