The Experience

This stylish hotel has a good address on the Left Bank but in a local, rather than touristy neighbourhood. You’ll feel a warm welcome, especially when the open fire is lit in the cosy salon.

Breakfast is served in an area off the salon or in your room and includes impeccably sourced bread and viennoiserie with jams, honey, Comté cheese, plus organic muesli and boiled eggs. All the rooms have seating areas and some have balconies with café tables and classic rooftop views.

The team on the front desk know everything there is to see and do, or head out on your own adventure – the Jardin du Luxembourg and Montparnasse’s lively cafés and brasseries are only a five-minute walk away; wander the streets of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quartier and explore its many art galleries. The Port-Royal RER line, a 10-minute walk away, will whisk you to the airport or the Gare du Nord in no time at all.

Hotel Sainte-Beuve is a good find in the centre of Paris. Located close to two metro lines, one of which goes directly to Gare du Nord, very handy for the Eurostar. Our superior double room on the top (6th) floor was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable, but be patient with the rather ancient, small, slow lift. Delicious continental breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff. A real wood fire in the lobby - a nice touch for a December visit.

Always tricky to pick a Paris hotel. This was a great find. Excellent location, near the Jardin du Luxemourg and a Metro station with a direct link to Gare du Nord, handy for Eurostar. I really liked my room – quite chic, with huge windows onto the street (but not noisy). Really cosy communal rooms downstairs.

Hôtel Sainte Beuve is one of those little jewels that can make a trip to Paris special. It's on the historic Left Bank close to Montparnasse and many famous spots, but not too touristy. Lots of exploring and discovering to do, and a refined human-sized home base to return to with a great atmosphere. Refresh and recharge, and head off to another adventure

The neighbourhood

The hotel is set on a quiet street with several good restaurants including Bistronomie, Moustache, La Grivoiserie, Chez Marcel and La Gentiane. Sights within 30 minutes' walk include the famous Bon Marché department store, Musée d'Orsay, the Rodin Museum, Les Invalides and the Panthéon.

Our hotel is only a 2 minute walk from the jardin du Luxembourg!
Along the boulevard Montparnasse, you can find some of the most reputed brasseries in Paris, such as La Closerie des Lilas or La Rotonde.
The hotel is ideally situated,10 minute walk from the Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the Vavin quarter accessible via the Paris métro line 4.
Notre Dame-des-Champs can be reached easily via the Paris métro line 12.

Laurent and Charlotte his wife have owned the hotel for 11 years. Laurent is an entrepreneur as well as mayor of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, one of the most significant towns on the Camino de Santiago pilgrim route. Their manager Amandine has been running the hotel for 5 years and has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. She has made her mark with the tasteful décor and colour scheme.
