1. INTELLECTUAL COPYRIGHT

The copyright and all other rights on this site are owned by Alastair Sawday Publishing Co. Ltd., or the material is included with the permission of the rights owner. As a visitor to this site, you may copy material for your own private or domestic purposes, but copying for any commercial or business use is strictly prohibited.

2. CONTENT

We reserve the right to refuse any application for inclusion on this website, and we have the sole right to remove any content. Please do not submit any material that contains adult, gambling, racist, sexist or hate material.

3. EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY

We use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the data on the website is accurate and we correct any errors or omissions as soon as practicable. We do not monitor, verify or endorse information submitted by third parties and you should be aware that such information might be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

While Alastair Sawday Publishing Co. Ltd makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information published on sawdays.co.uk we cannot be held responsible for any errors, omissions or changes that may have occurred after uploading. All recommendations, opinions expressed and prices are for guidance only. Personal descriptions have been written in good faith and are subjective and we accept no liability for the descriptions given. All views expressed are ours and individual opinions may differ.

We are not an agent and accept no responsibility for your direct dealings with owners. All the owners of places featured on sawdays.co.uk are responsible for providing you with the final quote and booking conditions for your reservation. If during your stay you have any reason for complaint, please deal with it immediately if possible so that remedial action may be taken. Sawdays's cannot intervene in any disputes between users and owners but we endeavour to investigate complaints.

4. EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR SUPPLIERS’ GOODS AND SERVICES

We promote a number of suppliers on sawdays.co.uk and can accept no liability for any goods or services provided by these suppliers. You should check that you agree to the suppliers' own terms and conditions before trading with them.

5. DATA SUBMITTED BY USERS

We accept no liability for data supplied by any user for display on sawdays.co.uk. If you submit data for display on the website you are responsible for ensuring it is accurate, complete, updated when necessary and for ensuring that it is not untrue, defamatory, obscene, abusive, objectionable or in breach of any applicable laws or rights of third parties. You warrant that you have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure that any data you upload or submit is free from viruses and anything else that may have a contaminating or destructive effect on any part of the website or any other technology. We reserve the right (without limiting our rights to seek other remedies) to remove offending material placed on sawdays.co.uk that we consider to constitute a misuse of the website or which is otherwise harmful to users of the site. You will indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, made by any third party due to or arising (including without limitation, economic loss) suffered by us arising from your failure to observe any of the terms of this condition.

7. COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

a) Competitions organised by Alastair Sawday Publishing whose address is The Old Farmyard, Yanley Lane, Long Ashton, Bristol, BS41 9LR, who publish a series of books and who operate the websites www.sawdays.co.uk and www.special-escapes.co.uk

b) Entries to the competition will be accepted (subject to these terms and conditions) from the date stated on each individual competition to the end stated on each individual competition inclusive (the "competition period"). Any entries received outside of the competition period will be deemed invalid.

c) All entrants must be over 18 years of age at the date of entry and resident in the UK. The eligibility of any entrant is at the sole discretion of the Promoter.

d) Employees, families or agents of the Promoter or any of its associated companies are not eligible to enter the competition. Only one entry per person and per household is permitted.

e) No purchase of any sort is necessary to enter competitions and entry to the Promoter's websites is free of charge. Entries to the competition should be submitted by writing, using phone lines or via email (depending on what is stated on each individual competition) to the promoter at the promoter's address, phone number or email shown, in accordance with these terms and conditions.

f) There will be prize(s) awarded to the stated number of prize winner(s). The prize winner will be the correct entry/ies to be selected at random by the promoter from all correct answers received at the end of the competition period .

g) The prize winner will be notified as soon as is practicable after the end of the competition period. The decision of the promoter is final and no correspondence will be entered into. If the prize winner fails to respond to correspondence from the Promoter and/or fails (for whatever reason) to claim his/her prize within 14 days of receipt of the Promoter's notification that he/she has won a prize, the Promoter shall be entitled to select an alternative prize winner and the prize winner who has not responded will not be entitled to a prize or any alternative. Details of the prize winner's name and county of residence can be requested by writing to the Promoter at the Promoter's address shown above.

h) The Prize is subject to availability and the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, substitute the Prize for a prize of a similar nature and/or comparable value. The Prize Winner may not request and shall not be entitled to a cash alternative to the Prize and the Prize is non-refundable and non-transferable. The Promoter will not be liable for any travel costs, spending money, insurance or any other costs associated with a Prize unless otherwise stated.

i) The Promoter accepts no responsibility or liability for any lost, damaged or incomplete entries and all such entries will be deemed invalid. Proof of entry shall not be proof of delivery or receipt. Only entries received in accordance with these terms and conditions will be acceptable.

j) The Promoter will not be liable if the prize does not reach the prize winner for reasons beyond the control of the Promoter or if the prize is damaged during delivery.

k) Proof of age may be required before the prize can be claimed by the prize winner. Before a prize is awarded, the prize winner may be required to sign a statement of eligibility and liability/publicity release.

l) By entering the competition, all entrants are deemed to accept these terms and conditions. The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, change any of these terms and conditions at its discretion and post the details of any such change on its websites. The decision of the Promoter is final in respect of all matters connected with the competition.

m) The terms and conditions of any third party supplier may apply and must be accepted and complied with by the prize winner.

n) On submitting an entry, each entrant irrevocably and exclusively grants and assigns to the Promoter with full title guarantee the entire copyright and all other rights of whatever nature in his/her entry for the full duration of such rights throughout the world.

o) Other than for death or personal injury arising from negligence of the Promoter, so far as is permitted by law, the Promoter hereby excludes all liability for any loss, damage, cost and expense, whether direct or indirect, howsoever caused in connection with the Competition or any aspect of the Prize.

p) These terms and conditions are governed by and construed and performed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, whose courts shall be the courts of exclusive jurisdiction.

8. Gift Card Scheme - Reader Terms and Conditions

1) Offer is limited to participating Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay in the UK only.

2) Gift Cards will be valid for 12 months from issue date.

3) Please allow 14 days from receipt of payment for your Gift Card to arrive.

4) If the total bill for the stay at the chosen place is greater than the value of the Gift Card, the excess is the responsibility of the Gift Card holder.

5) If the total bill is less than the value of the Gift Card no change will be given.

6) Costs associated with travel to and from the chosen place to stay are the responsibilities of the Gift Card holder.

7) You must say that you will be using a Gift Card as (part) payment for your stay when placing your booking.

8) Readers must hand over their Gift Card(s) when paying their bill at the end of their stay; photocopies will not be accepted.

9) The participating places reserve the right to refuse payment by Gift Card if a valid Gift Card is not produced.

10) Gift Cards feature a unique reference ID code and may only be redeemed once, cannot be exchanged for cash or replaced if lost and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

11) All bookings are subject to availability. It is your responsibility to check the individual places' policies on deposits and cancellations.

12) Gift Cards cannot be used from 18 December 2010 - 4 January 2011 (Christmas), or 22-25 April 2011 (Easter), and official UK Bank Holidays.

13) Participating places may also have a local exclusion. Please check before booking.

14) There is no cash alternative and Gift Cards are not transferable.

15) Gift Cards can only be used against the cost of the accommodation. The cost of food and drink are not covered by the card(s) unless meals are advertised as a standard part of the room rate (or at owner's discretion).

16) Gift Cards cannot be used in conjunction with Travel Club money off offers/discounts.

17) Terms and conditions are subject to change.

9. Travel Club Terms and Conditions

The Travel Club card entitles you to offers at participating venues in Britain and Ireland.

You must mention that you are a Travel Club member when booking, and confirm that the offer is available.

Your Travel Club card must be shown on arrival to claim the offer.

Sawday's Travel Club cards are not transferable

If two cardholders share a room they can only claim the offer once.

Offers for Sawday's Travel Club members are subject to availability.

Alastair Sawday Publishing cannot accept any responsibility if places fail to honour offers; neither can we accept responsibility if a place changes hands and drops out of the Travel Club.

Travel Club discounts cannot be used in conjunction with other offers.

10. Purchasing of Alcohol

The law does not permit the sale of alcohol to persons under 18.

By purchasing products containing alcohol, you are agreeing that you are over 18.

We will at all times adhere to all legal restrictions imposed on us in connection with the sales and offering for sale of alcohol. We therefore will not accept orders from persons under 18 for any goods containing alcohol.
