The Internet is a fantastic and revolutionary medium that has exploded into our lives quite suddenly and can seem frightening and unpredictable to some of us. To the less scrupulous, it's also a new way to try out old tricks. Con artists benefit from the ease and efficiency of the Internet just as we all do, plus they retain their anonymity even more thoroughly.
ASP does all it can to prevent scammers and spammers from getting through our contact forms to our owners, but there will always be a determined few who will work their way in, often inventing new email addresses to hide their identities and to stop us from intercepting them. They can fill out our email enquiry form just as easily as any honest visitor can.
So beware! We are not able to prevent con artists from getting in touch with you, but you can prevent them from carrying out their ruses by being alert and wary - and NEVER paying anything to anyone who requests a bizarre advance arrangement in exchange for full payment to you at the supposed time of their booking. However plausible the story seems to be, your alarm bells should be ringing if any visitor wants your bank details or for you to pay for something on their behalf because they say they're coming from a far-off land, or the like.
Whenever we hear of another scam that has been used on our enquiry form, we do our best to block its perpetrators, so do let us know if you think you've been contacted by a con artist. And please be on your guard - if in doubt, check it out!
