Errors do occur in our maps - check exact locations with owner when booking.
Use 'filter by price' to the right of the map to display only places up to a certain price. Or 'filter by feature' and tick the boxes next to the symbols to narrow your map search further. You can also specify what sort of places you want to display. So, if you want a place around the £70 a night mark that takes children, has bikes to borrow and is a hotel, not a B&B, click away.
These prices, per night, are based on two people sharing a room during high season. For self-catering and half-board places we have applied a formula to give a comparable per-night price. Places charging in currencies other than £ or € appear in the £ price band that was correct at the time of publication, but currency fluctuations mean you should only use the price bands as a rough guide; full pricing details can be found on each entry. You'll see these when you first open the maps page - they tell you how many Special Places you'll find per continent on our website. Click on any one of these and you'll then see how many places we have per country. If you decide to change your search criteria on the right, the numbers of places in each country or region will change.

At any point zoom right in to find all our places in any particular area, especially if there are lots of pins as some may be hidden by others. Use the + and - slider to zoom in to spot all our places and out for an overview. You can zoom right into street level.
If you click on map pins that overlap each other, you'll see a pop-up box listing all of the places in that cluster; you can go directly to each place from this list, or you can click on the yellow box that appears on the map to zoom in closer.
Use the arrow pointers or, quicker still, put your mouse on the middle of the map, click down and hold, then slide mouse up down, right or left, to see the next bit of the map and to zoom in.
Play around with these - the satellite option is fun and you can zoom right into houses and gardens. Find out if your Special Place is next to an airfield or in glorious isolation! Hybrid gives you the Satellite view and paints road names on top - useful for navigation.
In the bottom right hand corner of the map you will see an overview of where you are. You can click and drag the tinted box to change countries and navigate quickly around the world.
