The Experience

What a position – in the heart of Old Weymouth. Perch in the bow-fronted window and gaze down on the bustle of the harbour with its colourful boats and the fishermen coming in with their catch. As for the house, built in 1805, it is uniquely 12-feet wide so although bijou, it is full of arty surprises inside.

Peter and Anna are polished hosts. They’re on hand to help and give you homemade cake with a cuppa when you get there, and serve outstanding breakfasts on lovely china: homemade breads and jams, creamed mushrooms on puff pastry, smoked haddock and kippers from the Bridport Smokery.

Wander along the medieval lanes, head for the sandy beach, book a boat trip, try one of the many seafood restaurants… Then it’s back home to a very comfortable bed.

Reviews

This was our second visit to Old Harbour View bed and breakfast and once again did not disappoint. Peter and Anna are great hosts and the accommodation is very clean with one of the best views in Weymouth.

David, London

WOW !! What a Sawday's find. Old Harbour View is a stunning house overlooking the harbour. Our room was amazing with a view to die for. Crisp white sheets and a comfy bed. A powerful shower with big fluffy towels. In the morning we were treated to a hearty work of art full English breakfast by Peter chef extraordinaire !! Anna made sure we had her gorgeous Lemon drizzle cake and water to take with us each day. Thank you for a wonderful stay. If you are holidaying in Weymouth don't go anywhere else PLEASE book here you won't be disappointed. The only bad point is having to CHECK OUT !!!!

Brenda, Nottingham

I knew this was going to be a great find when the Peter had gone to such lengths to book our restaurants way in advance of our visit. In fact, every finite detail about Old Harbour View is exactly why we only use Alistair Sawday for our trips away The Hosts we're simply sublime, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The location - stunning. Breakfast room - gorgeous. Bedroom - beautiful. Cleanliness - impeccable. Breakfast - first class. Service - simply faultless. This by far was amongst the best and one we will return to.

Jonathan, NORWICH

The location was fabulous overlooking the harbour. Peter’s knowledge of the area and advice on places of interest and good restaurants was invaluable. Both Peter and Anna made us feel so welcome during our stay. However the highlight of our stay was Peter’s breakfasts and Anna’s cakes.

Dennis, Warrington

Peter and Anna were the perfect hosts. Ideal location on Weymouth Old Harbour. Peter’s knowledge of the area, places of interest and best restaurants was an invaluable part of the holiday. The most memorable part of the holiday, however, was Anna’s cakes and Peter’s breakfasts

Dennis, Warrington

I arrived with dirty boots having just been walking the spectacular Dorset Coastal path and was aware that the B&B decor was very white... I needn't have worried. Peter and Anna welcomed me warmly into their immaculate home, offering advice on restaurants etc, perfect cake when I came back from walking each day, a gorgeous view of the harbour from my room and the most amazing breakfast options! I based myself here for the coastal path walk from Weymouth to Poole, which was all doable by public transport (trains to Wareham, then bus) so no car necessary. Delightful! Many thanks.

Pippa, BRIANCON

This is a delightful place to stay with a wonderful view of the harbour. Peter and Anna go out of their way to make guests comfortable and welcome. On booking Peter explains the layout of the rooms etc in order to ensure that guests feel able to manage the stairs and the room size. Strawberry is a lovable well behaved family dog and sticks to all the house rules. Peter ensures that guests are given all information about the area. We would highly recommend Harbour View.

Roy and Ann, Ormskirk

My wife and I recently stayed three nights . Anna , A lovely lady made us very welcome. Anna makes CAKE. Then there’s Peter ! . Strawberry their dog makes you very welcome also. Then there’s Peter ! . The view of the old harbour from their home is gorgeous, always something to see. Then there’s Peter ! . Peter does breakfast ! .🍽🥗 HUGE. And varied , he does a mean boiled eggs with toasted soldiers. Lovely farm fresh eggs. We will return.

We had such an amazing stay at Old Harbour View. Our hosts, Anna and Peter, could not have been nicer, or more helpful. Anna made beautiful home made cakes, which we had both in our room and they also packed some up for us on our days out! We enjoyed every bite! Breakfast was amazing. Great portions that will keep you filled up. Peter and Anna have great local knowledge, which we made use of! The location is perfect. There is so much to see and do. Our en-suite bedroom was very comfortable and had everything that you could need. Nothing was too much trouble. We definitely hope to be back!

Alan & Belinda, Sevenoaks

We loved staying here. Great location overlooking the very pretty old harbour. Peter and Anna were excellent hosts: friendly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. We have already booked a return trip to continue the next stage of the coast path

Harriet, Tavistock

We visited The Old Harbour View just last weekend for an extra long weekend. Well what can we say, it was just wonderful. When arriving Peter welcomed us with a car parking pass and swiftly pointed us in the right direction on where to safely park. The B&B itself was beautiful, so clean, great art and felt homely. The room yes a little small but perfectly adequate for a long weekend and the quality of the facilities and the view really did make up for it. Peter, Anna & their dog Strawberry were just such great hosts, they provided us with loads of local knowledge, all the best pubs, restaurant

Sophie, Luton

Expansive welcome and breakfast. One step into the harbour path was fantastic. Would recommend any time of the year.

Jill, Milton Keynes

We have stayed at Old Harbour View B&B for 5 nights and we can honestly say this is the nicest cleanest and friendliest place we have ever stayed. Both Peter and Anna are excellent hosts. Anna’s cakes are amazing and Peters breakfasts outstanding. We tried many different things from kippers to the full English which neither of us could finish. Peter is also a good guide of the area and a very good conversationalist. When we come back to Weymouth we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again “

Philip, Stoke-on-Trent

What an incredible stay we had.... So much so that we changed our plans in order to stay an extra night! Peter and Anna were warm, kind and considerate hosts who made us feel very welcome. The B&B is in a great location, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with a very comfortable bed. Highly recommended and already looking forward to returning.

Joanne, London

This place has position, position, position. Right on the old harbour side where fishing and pleasure craft come and go, always something to look at. You realise that Weymouth is not just another seaside town. It has far more than that. There are some great seafood restaurants around, so you are not faced with the usual fatty seaside fast food stuff. The rooms are not big, but Peter has managed to cram a lot in to a small space, so no complaints on that score. Both Peter and Anna are excellent hosts. Peter does great breakfasts and Anna is a fantastic cake maker. Thanks to you both.

Robert, Chawton

A truly memorable three night stay in this charming home. Anna and Peter the perfect hosts, very friendly and sensitive to our needs. Peter is a superb chef giving us the best breakfasts we have ever had away from home in the prettiest setting. We can highly recommend a visit to Old Harbour View.

Fiona, Lincoln

This was a gem of a place to stay. Our host Nigel was a one of a kind personality and made such an effort to ensure we had a wonderful time. His suggestions regarding where we should eat to enjoy the local seafood were top notch. Thank you so much.

Rod, Loomberah

If you like good food this is the place to stay, wonderful breakfasts and home made cakes to take on our walks. Good local restaurants. The house is immaculate, Peter, Anna and the dog the perfect hosts.

Jenny, Connahs Quay

Anna and Peter are fantastic hosts. They're awfully welcoming, make you feel really at home. Their place is beautifully done up, in a great location as well. They've got a lot going for them. Anna is a fabulous baker and treats us to cakes for our daily trips. Need I say more? Breakfast is Peter's affair, and it's delightful. He provides a lot of insight into the area, and plays a major part in one's stay in the area. I rate it very highly indeed.

valentina, Guildford

Charming small b&b on Weymouth Old Harbour. Excellent hosts Peter and Anna, who were helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. We had a warm welcome with tea and Anna's delicious home made cake. Fabulous breakfasts cooked by Peter. I would highly recommend a stay here.

The neighbourhood

Old Harbour View is in the oldest and prettiest part of town. Right in front, guests can catch boats for mackerel fishing and trips out to sea or take a little ferry to the bottom of Portland. In the harbour you'll find the sandy bay of Castle Cove and Chesil Beach a little further. There’s a seafood festival in July. Weymouth is in the middle of the Jurassic Coast and you can join the South West Coastal Path from the town. The centre, the wide sandy beach and RSPB Radipole Lake are all a 5 to 10-minute stroll.

  • Top Cat 111 charter deep sea rod fishing and dive catamaran is on our doorstop and leaves at around 8am - enjoy a good breakfast then head off for inshore or deep sea reck fishing. Ivan the captain wil get you to the best fishing grounds.
