Opposite the old 'village lock up', a listed village inn with a cosy, friendly vibe. Ian Davison and Jenny Ison have revitalised the old place and introduced a modern feel with a menu to match. Expect painted brickwork, seagrass matting, antique tables, Windsor chairs, eclectic pictures and masses of space. Smaller rooms include a simple quarry-tiled bar and an intimate red dining room with three tables; pride of place goes to a Victorian bar counter picked up years ago – now it displays chocolates and wine. Dishes are chalked up on boards and the award-winning formula includes the likes of blackened salmon, lamb and garlic mash, whiskey trifle, treacle tart. Marston's Pedigree on hand pump should satisfy those in for a swift half, while foodies can check out the farm shop – and the chocolate workshop across the yard.

"A friendly village pub with beamed ceilings and quarry tiles mingling with the owner's selection of antique prints and furniture, The Three Horseshoes is a really cosy option for a meal or pint of ale. Food is excellent and the welcome warm. Recommend. "

"Wow what a great find. Fantastic beer, fantastic food, really friendly staff greeting you as you walk in and to top it all an amazing meal. Not forgetting the curio shop, and hand made chocolates sitting on a lovely period shop counter. Can't praise this pub highly enough and I rarely leave reviews! A great find perfect for our trips to the north of the country from Devon. Big thanks. Lin"
