The Trouble House
Cirencester Road, Tetbury, GL8 8SG,
England, United Kingdom
Forget Civil War skirmishes and rural riots: the only thing you have to worry about at this roadside pub today is what to eat and drink. The temptations are great. In the relaxed quarry-tiled bar, Shane will pull you a pint of Wadworth's best and describe the daily specials. Chef Liam is ex Calcot Manor and the food is seriously good: Cornish hake with chorizo; white bean and parsley casserole; braised blade of beef with confit garlic mash and black cabbage; citrus spiced crème brulée. Expect fine British cheeses, well-chosen wines and delicious coffees and teas. It's smart yet cosy with two dining areas and painted stone walls, low beams, real fires and scrubbed pine tables and chairs. Lovely staff, great place.
