Red Pump Inn - Pub in Lancashire
Bashall Eaves, Clitheroe, BB7 3DA, Lancashire
England, United Kingdom
Down meandering lanes in the lovely Ribble valley is a handsome roadside inn with a south-facing terrace tumbled with flowers. In the cosy snug bar: flag floors, crackling fires, oak settles and tables, and shuttered windows with green views. Changing cask ales might include Bowland Hen Harrier and Moorhouse's Pride of Pendle, while Jonathan hand-picks wines and malt whiskies. In the evening, sit in the large, beamed, candlelit restaurant and tuck in to something from the chargrill (steaks are to die for). The menu is warming, hearty and rich, and meat comes from Ginger Pig. Try lamb's kidneys with spinach and bacon, home cured salmon with caper and lemon dressing, slow roast pork belly and bean cassoulet. Clitheroe Castle and the Forest of Bowland are nearby.
Lunch & dinner £8.95-£24.00 . Bar snacks from £2.50.
