Sprawling, welcoming and organic, with summer tables on the pavement, an easy vibe and a fabulous chalkboard menu that changes twice a day

Thanks to pioneering Geetie Singh, 'organic' and 'sustainable' are the watchwords at Britain's first organic pub, and British-rustic is the style. Wines, beers, spirits are certified organic and they buy as locally as they can to cut down on food miles. Most of the beers are brewed around London, meat comes from two farms, and fish is Marine Conservation Society-approved. Impeccable produce and menus change twice a day. It's a sprawling airy space with a comfortable, easy atmosphere; you could be alone happily here. Sit back and take your fill of lentil and pancetta soup, mussels with chorizo, fennel and chives, game pie with braised red cabbage, broad bean and asparagus salad with ricotta, crusty bread, fruity olive oil, quince crumble and cream – in the lovely airy planked bar, or in the restaurant. Justifiably rammed.
