The Victoria - Pub in London
10 West Temple Sheen, Richmond, SW14 7RT,
England, United Kingdom
In the leafy suburb of Richmond, with a church and Sheen Common as neighbours, this long-established pub has been transformed by Greg Bellamy and Paul Merret. Find wooden floors, open brickwork, and sofas to flop on as you check out the menus for long leisurely meals in the conservatory. Here, foodies and families tuck into crisp-battered Cornish squid with tomato, mint, chilli and lime; pan-roasted guinea fowl with spiced pastilla and smoked aubergine; pecan and walnut baklava with nectarine and honey ice cream. Beef comes from a small butcher in Devon, mussels from Norfolk, and there's an in-house forager for elderflower and mushrooms! The wine list bursts with passion and helpful notes: a shame not to allow yourself to be led. Friendly, purposeful and fun – and there's a pretty play garden for children.
