The Duke of Wellington - Pub in Surrey
Guildford Road, East Horsley, KT24 6AA, Surrey
England,
United Kingdom
Set back from the road, surrounded by leafy loveliness, is a big sturdy pub with a Regency façade and neo Byzantine wings. Inside is equally unique: an open-plan space with a fire at its heart, a planked floor, a hotch-potch of furniture, a brick wall hung with old mirrors. It’s cool décor with a theatrical twist. There’s a formal dining room, exciting modern lighting, and a cosy corner with leather club chairs, trendy bookshelf wallpaper and a fire in the grate. Sundays are rammed and the lunches are sought after, with excellent roasts and Yorkshires to die for. House-smoked brisket is a speciality, there are pulled pork buns, warm crab salads, treats for vegetarians. Drinks range from guest beers to craft beers to prosecco. They love kids and dogs, and cyclists get free coffee on the terrace at weekends.
