Gorgeous village green, flagged floors, local ales and food, a handsome barn conversion. Loved by families, terrific for exploring Yorkshire

When we choose pubs to join us, we look for those special details that will make each one memorable. You have that in spades with with this family-friendly pub in a gorgeous Dales village. Kids can charge around the village green outside the 17th-century coaching inn, once home to the first Lord of Ribblesdale, or play pooh sticks in the gentle stream. Inside are flagged floors, wood-burning stoves and well-kept local ales. Darren also puts an interesting menu together. You could start with game galantine, and move onto blackened prawn and salmon stroganoff; if you have room, finish with rum soaked apple and sultana crumble. Or share a board: Ribblesdale goat's cheese, Yorkshire Blue bonbon, woodland mushrooms and mature cheddar, squash and walnut spring roll... The kids menu is brilliant and there are activities too.

  • Skipton is the nearest large town and is a thriving hub with independent shops, market stalls and cafes a plenty. Skipton is filled with history and home to one of the best preserved medieval castles in England.
  • There are many opportunities for caving near to our inn. With routes suitable for beginners or experts. There are deep pools, waterfalls and climbs; perfect for the more adventurous types!

"My husband and I have just had 2 nights at the Lister Arms. Amazing Inn/Hotel - Character room so large and comfortable with a large walk-in shower. Staff amazing very friendly and food very reasonably priced and enjoyable. They are great animal lovers and your dog would be made more than welcome. We unfortunately picked the wrong weather but we will certainly go back in the spring."
