The Old Bridge Inn - Pub in Yorkshire
Priest Lane, Ripponden, HX6 4DF, Yorkshire
England,
United Kingdom
An ancient packhorse bridge and a little low inn… such is the setting. Friendly Tim and Lindsay's involvement over decades has resulted in a thoroughly civilised, unspoilt little local. Three carpeted, oak-panelled, split-level rooms – dimly lit – are furnished with old oak settles and rush-seated chairs. The small green-walled snug at the top is atmospheric; the bar has a lofty ceiling with exposed timbers and a huge fireplace with a log-burning stove; the lower room is good for dining. Lindsay's buffet lunches are as popular as ever, and the evening menu reveals sound English cooking (pan seared hake; pie of the day with dripping chips; Scotch eggs and curried eggs; Yorkshire cheeses) with a modern slant. The bar is well used by locals who come for Timothy Taylor's Best Bitter, Landlord and Golden Best. The wines are good, too.

- Calderdale is a haven for walkers. From the lush green Ryburn Valley to the wild moors of Rishworth, there's a huge network of footpaths to test the hardiest walker. The Calderdale Way passes our front door.
- Calderdale has a wealth of vernacular architecture. The 'Bridge itself boast a fine cruck-frame. Many Yeoman clothiers houses adorn the hills and valleys, whilst the Piece Hall, and our famous diarist Anne Lister's (Gentleman Jack) Shibden Hall are a must.
- Over the Bridge B&B, just a few steps away from us is perfect for those wishing to spend more than just a day in Ripponden. Beautiful rooms and Trevor's famous breakfasts mean high occupancy and many regular visitors. Book well in advance!
- Hebden Bridge is a vibrant Pennine town with an alternative twist, and is just a 15 minute drive away.
