Lindy and Tony found a rare jewel here: a farmhouse untouched for over a century. Eight miles from medieval Montcuq (small shops, Sunday market), the mellow stone house has kept many of its original features; the old bread oven, two wells in the garden, and the outbuildings where the tobacco was hung to dry. Lindy has a flair for decoration and has created an unusually delightful place to stay. There's a glorious and well-equipped kitchen, its dresser loaded with bright crocks, a sitting room with a wood-burner to keep you snug all year round, and a long pine table for meals in the shade. Bedrooms in soft creams and greens are furnished with country pieces – a French walnut armoire, an antique quilt – while old wooden floors, topped with kilims, have been polished or painted white. Attic bedrooms are cosy for children... this would be just perfect for two families. Outside: ping-pong, table footie and darts in the open barn, fig trees in the garden, a sandpit for little ones. And, on the lower lawn, a lovely large saltwater pool, safely fenced and alarmed, with bucolic views.
