Crashing breakers, wheeling gulls, carpets of wild flowers in spring – the setting is a dream for artists and a tonic for everyone. Two fields away from coastal path and tidal beach, the old farm buildings are set around a grassy courtyard with patios to catch the setting sun. Caradoc the farmhouse can be let in its entirety or divided into two: the apartment upstairs with amazing Atlantic views, and the bigger ground floor. And there's Julian's House. Bedrooms are small, fresh and cosy with big beds and white walls; the beamy upstairs drawing room surveys the sea; the farmhouse kitchen has a Rayburn and a stove to cook on and a table that seats 12. Hugo meets, greets and lights fires prior to arrival (every home has a wood-burner), and leaves a welcome tray (perhaps cake, flowers, a cream tea). For stormy nights in you have books, music, broadband and DVDs; dining pubs are within walking distance of the cliff path. This is a good place for extended families, and for special interest groups (painting, yoga) – note the spacious studio on site.
