You are a winding-lane away from a secret bay, and a mile from a fishing village with charm. The third generation owners have spent ten years renovating barns at magical Bodrugan and this one is a great little bolthole for two – step in to find an open-plan layout and a decked balcony overlooking fields to the sea. All feels warm and cosy: a compact kitchen-cum-sitting room, an open doorway to the bedroom at the end, and French windows at the other opening to decking and a fabulous view. There are pale walls and tiled floors, a sofa and armchairs with cushions and throws, a table and chairs in varnished pine, and a digital TV/DVD. A simple white spread dresses the bed, a small electric wood-burner sits in the corner and you can smell the sea. Meet the Kendalls' other guests around the indoor pool – with sauna, just 50 metres away – or hole up in peaceful seclusion here. It's a treat to be so close to the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, that glorious coastal path and the little restaurants of Mevagissey; look forward to some of the freshest seafood on the south coast of Cornwall.
