Special Places to Stay - More than a bed for the night

You are in the prettiest Cornish village on the banks of the Lerryn river: one shop, one (amiably quiet) pub, and this smartly renovated end-of-terrace house. Much excitement for sailors as you have your own patch of garden just yards away from the water, so dinghies, canoes, rowing boats and brave swimmers can be launched during summer picnics. Inside is streamlined, gleaming and packed with mod cons: cooks will enjoy the granite tops, tiled floor and Shaker-style units in the light-filled kitchen; unhurried meals with friends or family can take place around the big wooden table here. Upstairs find a beamed sitting room with comfy chairs, cosy underfloor heating and lots of games. Bedrooms are carpeted, beds are brand new, dressed in the finest percale cotton and you will find lots of things you may have forgotten to bring with you, like hair dryers and clocks. Bathrooms are all-white, tiled and sparkling. Buy all you need at the post office stores round the corner and stay put, or strike out to Fowey, the Eden project, wonderful sandy beaches to the south, and wild ones to the north for budding surfers.
