It is in this pretty Victorian building that the Villa (your two-storey apartment) lies, while the oh-so-private Cottage is off a suntrap courtyard behind. As for the décor, it is luxurious, quirky, eclectic and brand new, perfect for a special occasion or an elegant family holiday. In the Villa: large sash windows and lovely proportions, a neutral palette with bold splashes of colour, flat-screen TVs in every room and a Roman bust at the top of the stairs. The super-duper kitchen has a country feel and the bedrooms have tip-top linen; one favourite is the twin under the eaves, with a blissful bathroom to match. If the Villa is swish the Cottage is cute: dinky little kitchen with all mod cons, bathroom and sitting room with corn-coloured walls, and open-tread stair to a romantic bedroom above. A scrumptious continental breakfast is on the house – and the stunning glasshouses of Wisley (RHS) are only two milesaway.
