Ard Na Breatha Guest House & Restaurant
Drumrooske Middle, Donegal,
Co. Donegal
Ulster,
Ireland
It's a 15-minute stroll from here into Donegal where you can catch a water bus for a tour of the bay. Smiling, enterprising, hard-working Theresa loves what she does and she does it brilliantly; the restaurant and B&B, linked by a covered walkway, are pristine and the food is delicious. This is a real farm-to-fork enterprise, with partner Albert both farmer and chef. They have 100 acres to rear their own beef and lamb and grow their own veg, and most of it is organic; real food is a passion. As for the house, it has an attractive stone front and a semi-urban view of Donegal town, with the Bluestack mountains rising majestically to the east. Reclaimed stone flag floors invite you in, a wall-hanging in Latin hangs beside an antique range, there are smart leather armchairs by the fire – cosy and convivial with an honesty bar – and white linen on the tables. The bedrooms are furnished with wrought-iron beds, the bathrooms have lovely soaps and towels, all is spotless and welcoming.
