The
Experience

Utterly wonderful hosts at this Grade I-listed house. On one of Bath’s finest Regency terraces, it has been so beautifully restored that the BBC filmed it for Persuasion; Jane Austen Society members often stay. Up several stairs are bedrooms flooded with light, two with views over Sydney Gardens, one with a bathroom in marquina marble, cherrywood and ebony. Have breakfast in the convivial family kitchen, or in the plant-filled conservatory. For the adventurous, Mechthild will serve an Austrian alternative – cold meats and cheeses, fresh rye breads and homemade cakes. Herrlich!

Reviews

The B&B experience is akin to actually being the owner of a £3 million townhouse with your own staff. Something which most mere mortals will never achieve. Utterly charming staff, excellent hospitality in a wonderful Grade 1 listed Georgian townhouse situated in the heart of Bath. William & Harriet.

  • You're less than 100m from the Holburne Museum with its fascinating exhibitions, concerts, and of course a tasty restaurant for lunch or coffee!
  • Opposite the house is the entrance to Sydney Gardens leading to delightful level walks along the canal or for the more adventurous hike up to Sham Castle to get a view over the whole city!
  • Every Saturday the Bath Farmers Market takes place in Green Park Station - 15 or so minutes into town, and the Bath Christmas Market beginning the final week of November was the first in the country.
  • Bath is filled with exciting restaurants covering almost every conceivable cuisine and price range. Most are within a refreshing walking distance, to work up the appetite, and therefore light on the pocket should you return via taxi in your contentment!
  • A trip to Bath is hardly complete if you have not visited the Roman Baths, with their fascinating interactive displays that will hold even children's attention for a good two hours. Adults might want to compare today's relaxing experience in Bath Thermae
  • Get to understand the history of the city in the Museum of Bath Architecture. Great displays of the development of interior and exterior building details, or visit William Herschel's House where he and his sister Caroline discovered the planet Uranus!
