Cleaner, quieter and less groovy than Brighton, its slogan – “Hove, actually!” – says it all. In reality, Hove and Brighton are a short walk – or bus ride – apart, along the bracing seafront. This ground-floor Regency apartment, all stately sash windows and elegant ceilings, is in bow-fronted Lansdowne Place, two steps from coffee shops, restaurants and shops, and a five-minute stroll from the sea. It is comfortable, carpeted, well-equipped (TV/DVD, iPod dock, WiFi, books and games) and, because the owners live here when they are in town, has a home from home feel. You enter off the communal hall – step ahead for the bedroom; turn right for the living room; left for the bathroom and the kitchen beyond. A marble fireplace distinguishes the sitting room, white walls are the backdrop for old clocks and new pictures, and furniture is a mix of family antique and suave new. But best of all is the private patio garden: a joy on warm evenings. If you tire of Brighton (impossible!) set off for the South Downs: the walking is magnificent. Better to ditch the car – parking is difficult and expensive.

We have just enjoyed a family break at this lovely apartment. It is situated only a minutes walk from the beach and is ideally placed for everything. Tescos and Sainsburys are only 100 metres away along with a myriad of quaint and quirky shops. The apartment has everything in it you could want for a break. Its a home from home with the added benefit of a strong WIFI connection. Car parking is easy as a multi storey is a 5 minute walk away and can be extended easily via an app on your smartphone via Paytopark. We would definitely stay here again.

A perfect "night stop" in the beautiful Hove/Brighton area, as we headed off to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. Our hostess, Jane, could not have been more welcoming and helpful - providing easy-to-follow instructions on how to arrive, and lots of great tips for things to see and do in the area. The flat is perfectly situated, just a stone's throw from the seafront and a pleasant 15/20 min walk into bustling Brighton. Clean, light and spacious, the flat itself was the perfect 'oasis' for us to be based. Comfortable bed, invigorating shower, and a well-appointed kitchen. Lovely experience.

Local points of interest from Jane Gardner

  • Amazing location which is quiet but at the same time close to many shops, restaurants and pubs.Two supermarkets within 2 minutes walk which stay open from 7am to 11pm so you can always 'pop out' for a loaf of bread or, better still, a bottle of wine
  • West facing patio garden with table and chairs to enjoy the sunshine, appreciate the flowers and listen to the seagulls - a very 'Brighton' sound !
  • Three minutes walk to the promenade at the end of the road. Head for the centre, the new i360 attraction and the pier in one direction. Pass the iconic beach huts en route to the Hove Lagoon in the other, ( where water sporting activities take place).
  • Explore the South Downs Way up behind Brighton. (ten minutes drive or go by bus). The Downs are stunningly beautiful and the stretch of the Way between Brighton and Eastbourne has some of the very best views of the entire 99 mile Way.Great pubs abound.
  • Brighton's famous 'Lanes' are nearby and are full of antiques, quirky shops and places to stop for a bite and watch the world go by, or visit one of the many excellent restaurants to be found there.
  • Convenient for the many and varied courses in arts and crafts which are taking place all the time. Brighton is also famed for the numerous schools for learning English as a second Language.
