The Experience
A ten-minute stroll over the old river Dee bridge takes you from your gem of a holiday let into the charming walled town of Chester with its myriad boutique shops, bustling cafes and Cathedral. And you’re perfectly placed for Snowdonia, Liverpool and even Manchester. You step through the striking red door of this Grade II listed 1896 cottage into the hall. Branca, a seasoned traveller, has used her knowledge and flair to create a restful place to unwind: a comfy living room with wooden floors and squishy sofas in front of the fire, a smart dining room and a well-equipped kitchen where you can release your inner Nigella. All is neat as a pin and there are lots of lovely touches: hairdryers, logs for the wood-burner, Smart TV, games, books… Upstairs to three light, airy bedrooms with super mattresses, rugs on stripped floors and a neutral palette and it’s back downstairs for the spoiling bathroom stocked with Neal’s Yard goodies and fluffy towels. Outside there’s a courtyard area with barbecue and bike storage; and best of all there’s free on street parking out the back.

We had the most incredible, comfortable stay at Branca's beautiful home. It was decorated all Christmasy for us, wonderful treats, a cupboard full of essentials and more. The beds were super comfortable, hot shower, her home was so clean and we mostly enjoyed the warm roaring log fire every night. The location was perfect. 10 minutes stroll into the city of Chester and only a couple of minutes to local shops, a butcher and cafes including a park for children. This was the best air bnb we've ever stayed at. Highly recommended!

Very cosy house, spotless, all.needs are catered for, lovely welcoming . We are repeat guests just had our 4th visit. I could not recommend this property highly enough ! My grown up daughters and grandaughter s Call it our Christmas cottage ! It feels like we are coming home each time we stay. It's about a 10min walk into Chester and about 20 mins to cheshire oaks. As a family we spend most of our evening round the dining room table in front of the log fire playing board games, drinking Wine with lots of laughter. What else can I say ...well done Branca for making it all possible x

Visiting Chester with friends we had a wonderful stay at Overleigh. This is a characterful house, spacious but cosy. Fresh flowers, a welcome pack, quality bathroom products, superior bed linen made our stay feel extra luxurious. The living room has comfy sofas and a wood burning fire, perfect for kicking back and relaxing. A well equipped kitchen, meant we could have family and friends around for dinner. There’s also a cute little courtyard for eating al fresco. Probably the best holiday accommodation I’ve stayed in - and I’m very picky! Didn’t want to leave, looking forward to returning.

We are repeat clients staying at the property. It's like a home from home. Lots of thought put into the finer details to make it a home from home stay. Lots of space and fantastic courtyard. Well located within walking distance of the River Dee and centre of Chester. Thoroughly recommend out of all the properties we have stayed in.

We had a lovely comfortable stay at 30 Overleigh Road. The house is beautiful & full of character; it's beautifully decorated. It's very close to the centre and yet very quiet. No trouble parking. Communication with the hosts is excellent: they are very responsive & leave notes around the house so it very clear how to use everything. Lots of thoughtful touches like food you might need on arrival & fresh flowers around the house.

What a wonderful place! To have to work away from home, particularly during lockdown, is a daunting prospect, but Branca made me feel so welcome. The beautiful cottage is spotless, warm and cosy. Biscuits, wine and fire wood were provided. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you both. I look forward to a return visit in less challenging times.

I just can’t say enough about how pleased my friend and I were with this property. Communication with Branca was very efficient and the welcome goodies and fizz were such a nice touch. The location of the house is excellent. It is just outside the centre and is a pleasant walk. We were bowled over As soon as we walked in the house. Everything is of the highest quality. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the carpet in the front bedroom was so soft! I can honestly say that there is not one thing that could be improved upon in this property. You will not regret staying here!

Highly recommended! Overleigh Road is situated in a quiet residential area, just a pleasant short walk to the City of Chester. Behind the dark red solid door of Number 30 awaits a sympathetically renovated Victorian Cottage, with three double-sized bedrooms, two separate living areas complete with log burning stoves, a modern kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms. Beautifully furnished, and appointed throughout with everything necessary to ensure comfortable accommodation. Your hosts Branca & John have also compiled a file of maps, events and info to interest all ages and members of the family. Enjoy!

Local points of interest from Branca & John Pinto da Cruz
- Explore beautiful Chester, by foot, by bike, by boat...Walk the historic walls any time, any weather, for a different perspective of the city. Tours abound - cathedral tours, ghost tours, free tours, walking tours, bus tours and, of course, Roman tours.
- Take in a day at the races at the Roodee, the oldest racecourse in England. On a sunny day, take a seat in the Architect beer garden just over the road and hear the crowds cheer. Culture hits a new high with the 'Storyhouse' Theatre opening its doors
- We're going to the Zoo...Chester's is the biggest and best in Europe...you need a day to give it justice but you'll be glad you did. Try Go Ape at Delemere Forest or build sandcastles on the beaches of the Wirral or North Wales, all a short drive away
- Take a break from the sight-seeing with afternoon tea in the stunning Grosvenor Hotel, or grab a take-away cuppa and find yourself a bench in the Roman Gardens. Shop shop shop...Chester Rows, Cheshire Oaks...venture to LiverpoolOne or Manchester's Trafford
- Chester centre is full of lovely places to dine and drink, or you can pop to Notting ''Hoole'' grab a cocktail in the stylish Suburbs, a beer in the relaxed Faulkner pub then have a feast in the Sticky Walnut.
- If your boots are made for walking, try Cheshire's Sandstone and Crocky trails. The stunning Wirral peninsula with country parks and beautiful sunsets. Take in the views at Hoylake, home of the Royal Liverpool golf course, host of the Open golf tournament
