Meander through Penzance’s cobbled backstreets, discover a rambling mews courtyard enclosed by high walls: wonderful and atmospheric. Then through the arched doorway to a secret courtyard garden, cobbled and 17th century (once home to mules carrying tin ore from St Just). Behind the smart black door is a wonderful country-modern kitchen of cream units and solid oak worktops, where homemade cake and flowers sit on the pretty table. Up a couple of steps: a big open-plan living space – a round table, a red sofa, a flame-effect wood-burner, pale painted floorboards and a deep, slate window sill – a warm stylish décor with a romantic feel. The Art Deco saltwater Baths and the Promenade are two minutes away; continue west to the village of Newlyn for the catch of the day… or hike to Land’s End. Return to a restful bedroom with a romantic cream iron bed, a travertine-floored bathroom with a massage shower and a pretty table for al fresco dining. All feels charming and luxurious. A five minute stroll down the hill: eclectic chapel street with it’s shops, cafés and quirky galleries. Heaven for couples!
