The Experience

Up a narrow street, one row back from the sea, this powder blue Georgian house is just the backdrop for happy gatherings of friends or families. There might be a tussle for the cavernous main bedroom with its freestanding bath, but ultimately everyone will be happy in their own whiter-than-white retreat. The twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand straggle around three beaches – dip in rock pools and try the two kayaks provided, then wander happily through traffic-free streets between pocket money shops and ice cream parlours.Return for a barbecue in the child and dog-safe courtyard garden or congregate around a choice of dining tables. Sofas by the wood-burner beckon for after dinner drinks or a cosy movie.

Cosy dining room with traditional fireplace and doors leading into the garden

Me, my girlfriend and 6 other friends stayed at The Blue Monkey as we were attending a wedding at Palhawn Fort and Blue Monkey simply made our stay perfect. From the minute we found the place Annabel was so helpful in making sure we got the dates booked in and kept in contact throughout the 6 months leading up to our stay. When we arrived at The Blue Monkey we were blown away the size of the place was perfect, kitchen was brilliant and plenty of seating seeing as there was so many of us. All of the bedrooms are a good size but the two main rooms were stunning....Overall our stay was amazing!

Eight of us had a very enjoyable holiday at the Blue Monkey in August 2019. The property was in good order when we arrived and was spacious and well equipped. We had had several helpful conversations with the manager before arriving which helped us to sort out things such as a supermarket home delivery. This meant everything went smoothly and we could relax straight away. .....We would definitely consider another holiday at the Blue Monkey.

Blue Monkey lived up to our expectations and more. We had a cream tea waiting for us on arrival together with such useful extras like bread, butter, milk, eggs and really good coffee. The house is gorgeous and you can tell there have been no cutting corners...... we also enjoyed the beaches, long dog walks and lazy evenings. If we had any questions Annabel was very quick to respond. All in all Blue Monkey is one of the best houses I have stayed in in Cornwall and I would not hesitate to recommend Blue Monkey to anyone.

A special place with beaches and walks which are out of this world all around it. Loved being here for some real quality time with the family and enjoying all that this delightful corner of Cornwall has to offer. Blue Monkey is comfortable, very well positioned and a pleasure to spend time in. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back and my only regret is that we were only booked in for one week and not 2! Thanks for a fab stay.

Beautiful property, beautifully furnished and with everything you could possibly want for a comfortable stay. We loved it! Can’t wait to go back again!

Loved it. Great location. Incredibly well equipped. We were blessed with good weather, but if we weren't, we would have been happy to spend all four days hanging out playing the huge selection of board-games in the house. Will definitely come back - to make use of the kayaks if nothing else.

Just returned from a holiday having stayed at the Blue Monkey. What a great place! Right from the start the service has been excellent. We received lots of information prior to our arrival which helped us plan our week. On arrival we enjoyed a very welcome cream tea provided by the owners. The house is warm, clean and inviting and has everything you could wish for. There was plenty of clean towels, quality bedding, store cupboard essentials. Everything you need for a great holiday. The house is in a great location, close to local amenities and the car park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Blue monkey was a beautiful relaxing home from home. It had everything a family needed to enjoy a family holiday in a picturesque setting. Highly recommend!

Great house in great location An excellent house - spacious, well-equipped and in an excellent location in the beautiful villages of Kingsand/Cawsand - a few steps away from a beach, a welcoming pub and a great cafe. The information before arrival about both the house and the area was the best we’ve had in a holiday rental. Would definitely recommend.

Blue Monkey is excellent in every way. The on site management was available at all times to answer any of our questions. The house is lovely and the patio and garden are gems. The towns of Cawsand and Kingsand have wonderful restaurants. Something is always happening at the harbour. Every necessity that you could possibly need in a house rental has been anticipated.

Superb property in a fantastic location. Worth every star!

Blue Monkey deserves every one of it’s five stars! Comfortable, incredibly clean, beautifully decorated and fantastically well equipped - you’ve thought of everything thank you! The Rame Peninsula is peaceful and unspoilt and the car friendly village makes it safe for dogs and children alike. Thank you for a magical holiday.

Lovely week, with three generations of the family able to enjoy the holiday. The Blue Monkey was very well equipped, which added to a carefree, happy trip away.

We stayed at Blue Monkey for a week with our 2 young boys and 2 dogs - absolute heaven!!! Wonderful welcome goodie pack on arrival, super comfy beds, luxurious baths, beautiful interior decor, stones throw from the beach, wonderful pubs on tap, BBQ and lovely garden to relax with in the evenings - loved our stay! Highly recommend local coastal walks along Rame head and the Minnedew (not sure of spelling). Only regret not getting a baby sitter organised to enjoy the Davenport pub or the View for evening drinks and a meal! Very luxurious with a lovely warm homely feel! Thank you!!!

Couldn't fault the house in any way, it had everything we needed for a stress free week away with the three under 4 & four over 60!

Tanya, Penarth

We loved our trip to Blue Monkey, this is our 4th visit and cant wait for the next trip. The house is immaculate and welcoming and perfect for a stay with the children, very child friendly with toys, games, tv recordings, very very quiet street, or for a weekend with friends. Would totally recommend a visit!

We were down at Blue Monkey for a long weekend recently. It's my second trip there and while the weather never seems to play ball, the house and location are just idyllic - we saw everything from tidal waves to crystal clear sunrises within hours of each other. The house has everything you could ever want and great coastal walks/runs in all directions.

Lucas, London

Superbly equipped and beautifully decorated house, perfect for extended families with small children and dog-friendly as well. Three beaches are just moments away -- as are three pubs! Our group of six adults, four young children and a dog thought the Blue Monkey was heavenly.

Perfect for a holiday with dogs and young families. The house is a dream - beautifully clean and very welcoming and homely. The village is car free so it is also quiet and relaxing. The beaches round about are beautiful and the coastal path is a fantastic walk. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Stayed with young family and had a fantastic relaxing week. Accommodation really is luxury with amazing master bedroom and ensuite. Very well equipped with pretty much everything you need for small kids. Great location very near beaches and great pubs

The neighbourhood

Kingsand and Cawsand are on the often-overlooked Rame Peninsula, a beautiful corner of Cornwall’s coast just past the border with Devon but well off the main roads. Aside from the villages’ own beaches, there’s a four mile stretch of sand a mile away over the peninsula at Whitsand Bay, well-loved by surfers and bodyboarders and home to highly-regarded restaurant The View. For a complete change of pace, the ferry from Cawsand beach will whisk you over to Plymouth and its endless shopping and nightlife options in half an hour.

Keen surfer Ed’s passion for the sport was what first attracted him to Cornwall’s shores. He and property manager Annabel make every effort to ensure Blue Monkey provides everything you, your kids and the dog expect from a great seaside holiday.
