The Experience
Gather the clan and immerse yourselves in this glorious estate surrounded by woodland, deer park, fields, sheep and cows. All the rooms are designed by Sarah Fortescue. A warming open fire is waiting for you when it’s chilly plus a library full of good books and a pop-up projector for film nights. A large drawing room has views over the garden and plenty of seating for everybody.
The kitchen is fully geared up for you to either cook or bring your own chef; fresh vegetables, herbs and soft fruits from the garden are yours when in season and you can order a picnic hamper. Walks around the estate, lake and gardens are sublime, there’s a games room and tennis courts. On long summer days, wander to the cricket pitch to watch the Boconnoc team play then set up the barbecue on the terrace for an al fresco supper.
It’s peaceful here and very comfortable; you’ll find fresh flowers in the hallway and bedrooms have gorgeous countryside views. You should unwind nicely.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're surrounded by the estate then narrow country lanes, fields, woodland and deep rural peace. The nearest town is Lostwithiel - four miles. Here you'll find good restaurants and shops including great antiques. The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery and Cafe is three miles away for excellent local food, the Eden Project is half an hour.
Local points of interest from The Fortescue Family
- Try one of the delicious local restaurants - in Fowey you will find Appleton's, Fitzroy and North Street Kitchen which is a 20 minute drive away, or head to Charlestown and try The Longstore.
- Take a tour of the gin distillery on the estate, watch the onsite furniture maker at work in his workshop or see the model railway in one of the barns in the Stable yard
- Cycle to the beautiful village of Lerryn, buy an ice-cream from the shop, or a drink from the pub and sit at the picnic tables by the river. It is an idyllic spot, especially on a sunny day.
- To keep the kids, or adults entertained try Adrenalin Quarry, fifteen minutes from Boconnoc, which has an inflatable water park, go-karting, a zip wire, axe throwing and much more.
- Book to use one of the Boconnoc mountain bikes to explore the grounds, or use the tennis rackets and balls to knock up on the court.
- Explore the south coast beaches - Talland Bay is a lovely swimming spot, with a cafe by the beach, and kayaks for hire. Or park and take the long walk down the cliffs to Lantic Bay.

Introducing
The Fortescue Family
The Fortescue family have owned Boconnoc House since 1864 and the award-winning restoration work was taken on by Anthony and Elizabeth - deemed an almost impossible task as the house and gardens had been allowed to sink into considerable disrepair. Now restored to its former glory, you are welcome to share it and you are looked after, beautifully, by an efficient and friendly team.
One of the most idyllic places I have ever been! Pure escapism on this peaceful, lush green estate. Only 15 minutes from the beaches of the south Cornish coast, yet feels like a hundred miles from civilization. We loved the home grown veg boxes delivered to our door, and local butchers and fish mongers also deliver. Our children loved every minute of it and can’t wait to go back.
