The Experience

Down a long lane to a rose-clad cottage in the most balmy part of Cornwall… peace in a private cove. Your own door leads up steps to a gorgeous suite with luxurious linen on an antique four-poster, art, sofas… and a flowery balcony with spectacular views of the sea and subtropical gardens. Settle in happily to the sound of the waves. Sue is friendly and serves a great breakfast in the garden room: home-laid eggs, homemade jams and their own honey. The Penwith peninsula hums with gardens, galleries and stunning sandy beaches; Minack Theatre and Lamorna are close. Arrive to a salad supper chosen from a small but special menu. Paradise!

A truly magical destination...superb accommodation, & a tasty breakfast on the terrace looking out to sea.Go through the gate at the bottom of the beautiful Cornish gardens & you are in St Loy Cove drinking your wine! Best of all however are your hosts Sue & John, who will go that extra mile to make your stay unforgettable, and made our Anniversary so special.

Carole, Plymouth

Gorgeous house and garden right by the sea. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Couldn't recommend it more.

This is literally a place from heaven; views to die for; accommodation that is outstanding both in terms of comfort and views; breakfasts that could not be surpassed (and we've stayed in lots of places globally). Sue and John White are tremendous hosts - that rare and wonderful mix of knowledgeable, friendly, generous but not imposing. This is a location that is almost as far as you can go on the south-west English mainland and, similarly as close to perfection as possible.

John, Kirtlington, Oxfordshire

We love Cornwall and are always happy to visit. Now we have found Cove Cottage, we cannot wait to return. The location is quite stunning. The most comfortable and stylish accommodation rivals many high class hotels. Breakfasts are delicious, with a very varied menu. Sue and John are delightful hosts and guarantee a relaxing and special break.

We have visited this wonderful property twice. Wonderfully situated, close to the sea and cove. The only Guest room has all you need for a relaxing stay. Sue and John are friendly hosts and nothing is too much trouble. An ideal place to stay if you're looking for peace and quiet.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Sue White

  • Set in stunning sub tropical gardens which stretch down to the sea and are bordered by a woodland stream, also close to the beautiful Lamorna Valley to the west and the spectacular open-air Minack Theatre situated above glorious sandy beaches to the east
  • The Lands Peninsula is narrow, enabling speedy access to both coasts with spectacular beaches, cliffs and coves, many of which have been used for filming the much loved Poldark series. Pednevounder our nearest sandy beach is judged to be in Worlds top 10!
  • Cove Cottage is situated right on the South West Way and walking opportunities are endless. Once the site of a famous tea-garden, its remote position was known to the many coastal path walkers who stopped for refreshment. Now an oasis for our guests only
  • Towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their many gardens, galleries and wonderful restaurants are easily accessible as is St Michaels Mount...the gem in the National Trust crown. Charming villages of Mousehole and Marazion are ripe for exploration
  • Ancient stone circles, crosses and quoits are situated in remote and unspoilt locations are there to discover. From these sites of antiquity you truly feel part of our ancient heritage
  • The best of Cornish cuisine can be enjoyed in many landmark restaurants and beach cafes all offering great and innovative food. Mousehole and Penberth, two of the most charismatic fishing coves in Cornwall are near to St Loy and will captivate your senses
