The Experience

A romantic retreat in the heart of Cornish fishing-village heaven. The pretty 1840 cottage, part of a terrace of three, has stone steps up to the front door; walk in to the ground floor living area with painted floorboards, wood-burner, natural driftwood shelving and an authentic seaside feel. Upstairs: another chic living area with sea views opens into the main bedroom with its big snowy white bed and double aspect windows; your peace will only be interrupted by the jolly cry of seagulls. Cooks will love the handmade kitchen with its sleek, black slate worktops, top-notch pots and pans, and beautiful crockery. From here, narrow stairs lead down to a cosy little second bedroom – perfect for one – and the bathroom with heated black slate floor. A small door on this floor opens onto the lane and a sun-dappled terrace garden with views across rooftops and a shed filled with garden furniture. The coastal path runs through the village and there are heaps of good restaurants and pubs. Boating by arrangement, and a massage too if you fancy indulging. A true gem.

Mousehole is a lovely Cornish village and is a good location for many of the county attractions including St Ives. No 5 is beautiful cottage with, perfect furnishings, good space and facilities, spotlessly clean and the host kindly provided a very well chosen hamper of food and drink so that we didn't need to immediately go out and shop when we arrived. The cottage is near to the local pubs and restaurant but also in a quiet lane so you can get an undisturbed sleep. Well worth a visit.

Stephen, Bromley

No5 is the perfect getaway. The cottage is lovely and everything we needed was there when we arrived. Mousehole was pretty and sunny with good places to eat and lovely walks.

Pearl, London

No 5 is the perfect spot in Mousehole to relax and unwind and would suit any season. Away from the main thoroughfare but at the heart of the village , a quiet pedestrian alley takes you to your peaceful retreat. With a log burner, a hamper of treats and generous provisions lie waiting within a thoroughly delightful warm and welcoming interior. It had all we wanted and more. We can highly recommend this special place to you all.

Deb, York

A really beautiful cottage and Caroline was really so helpful. The delightful welcome hamper was perfect as we arrived late, the cottage was immaculately presented and incredibly comfortable. Will certainly be back again.

Caroline has thought of everything - and I mean everything! A little gem in a charming village. Loads to do locally and a spectacular part of Cornwall. A very special place to stay.

Janet, London

Very tastefully renovated cottage. Beautiful detail. Everything thought of-even smelt good! Very generous welcome package, beautiful flowers, great to have an outside space too. Everything needed in the kitchen was there and of a high quality. Very central in Mousehole - 30 second walk to the Harbour. Wonderful. If staying in Mousehole, just be aware that parking is tricky.

Lorraine, London

We had a very pleasant stay in this comfortable and well appointed little cottage in the centre of Mousehole. Glorious weather helped. Good local cafes. We enjoyed The Old Coastguard and 2 Fore Street which have got the hang of reasonable social distancing. The owner had left a welcome food parcel which saved a trip to the shops on arrival. Recommended.

We've just got back from a fabulous week at No 5. We spent our days out exploring the surrounding villages & coast and couldn't wait to return to get cosy in the cottage. Really great attention to detail from Caroline like the hamper, Bramley cosmetics and white robes made it feel like a lovely treat. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed.

Megan, Bristol

We absolutely loved celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary in this delightful little cottage in Mousehole - an utterly charming seaside village. As others before have noted, Caroline thoughtfully provides a fabulous welcome hamper stocked with delicious goodies, too many to mention, but very much appreciated. As lockdown measures were just beginning to relax, the local cafes, bars and restaurants were providing wonderful take-away food and drinks, which added to the ambience around the picturesque harbour, as families and friends opted to picnic al-fresco in the early evening sunshine.

Lorraine, Leamington Spa

What a treat! The perfect place to stay in Mousehole. This was our second stay & we will come again. Tastefully presented & perfectly located. Caroline’s welcome pack of foodie treats is always much appreciated. She really has thought of everything.

Miguel, London

From the moment we arrived to a quiet narrow street (too small for cars - bonus) in the very centre of Mousehole we knew had found the most perfect cottage for our short break. EVERY last little detail has been thought about - from the amazing welcome package of milk, fresh bread from the deli, cheese, butter, Prosecco etc, wood for the stove and even flowers, through to the exceptionally well equipped kitchen & beautifully and tastefully decorated interior. This cottage is truly special. The owner - Caroline - has imbued the place with her tremendous positive energy and amazing taste. Amazing

Sara, London

This cottage is small but perfectly formed. The photos really don’t do it justice. It is beautifully finished with everything you could possibly need. I particularly appreciated the soft bath robes and hair straighteners! It was perfect for us and our toddler over the bank holiday weekend. Although there is no parking we managed really well leaving our car in one of the town car parks and actually spent most of our time pottering down to the harbour beach where the calm, clear water and soft sand was ideal for our two year old to play in. We’d love to come back again soon.

Sarah, Taunton

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at No 5. The cottage is lovely - light and beautifully furnished. Caroline’s care and attention to details ensured we felt welcome on arrival and had everything we needed for a perfect first holiday in Cornwall.

Shelagh, Lancaster

What a fantastic find - this cottage is home from home and provides absolutely everything you need and Mousehole provides the rest !! Thank you Caroline for such a lovely cottage and the welcome pack which was just the icing on the cake. Do hope to be back some time

HELEN, Bedford

Just the most beautiful place to stay. Caroline has thought of it all and the welcome hamper was a lovely surprise.

fionnuala, Oxford

Beautiful cottage, perfectly equipped with everything to ensure a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. The location is excellent, with sea views, coastal walks and delicious places to eat all on the doorstep. We didn’t want to leave! Highly recommended.

Katy, Oxfordshire

No. 5 was a fabulous house to stay in. It was all very comfortable and well equipped with lovely little touches from Caroline like the fruit and prossecco on arrival and the hot cross buns that she delivered during my stay. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in and the little outside area was a sun trap and a glorious place to sit. I would definitely recommend this gorgeous, relaxing place to stay as a good base from which to discover so many beautiful places and things in the area.

Tessa, Wokingham

A lovely cosy cottage in the heart of old Mousehole, beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished with all mod cons. Very relaxing ambience with sea views from upstairs. The coast path offers great walking and there is much to explore nearby . Local pub and restaurant are both excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

Isabel, Newton Abbot

We've just had a fantastic holiday, spending 11 days at No.5. It's a lovely place to unwind and relax. It's really quiet, set back from the tourist centre of the village, and has so many lovely touches - fresh fruit, flowers, tea, coffee, cheese, olives, fact everything you need to feel welcome and rejuvenate yourself after a long drive. The bed is one of the comfiest, the sitting areas are relaxing and great to read, chat or just contemplate the world and the bath is humongous! And with visits from Fluffy the cat next door, it's like a home from home...

Lorna, Bath

A superb and utterly charming place to stay. The cottage is impeccably designed and decorated and in the perfect location in the heart of Mousehole. The food, wine, cheese and flowers displayed on arrival were much appreciated and really made the place feel very special. A wonderful little bolt hole and highly recommended. I will definitely be booking again!
