The Experience

A fun and friendly place to stay within sight and sound of the Atlantic. Children and dogs are safe to wander at will around a huge fenced field and you’re moments from your own beach. Borrow body boards, pack up a picnic and hurl yourselves into a proper seaside holiday. An outside hot shower is perfect for sandy toes and paws.

If the weather isn’t playing then you’ll still feel happy. Underfloor heating and a wood-burner keep things cosy, there are books to read, games to play and Netflix to comfort. Owner Jane greets you and leaves basics in the kitchen plus a cream tea for when you arrive. She’s also generous spirited enough to offer lifts to Bude or baby and dog sitting.

Join the coastal path for fabulous view-filled walks: head to Crackington Haven for the Cabin Cafe then get the bus back. Rent bikes in Bude and cycle along the canal, stock up at The Beach House Shop (20-minute walk) with freshly-caught fish. Return to a magnificent sunset, a barbecue and a big table which seats eight. The Shack is totally wheelchair-friendly too.

Jane has gone one step further creating a perfect home for the holiday. There is plenty of space for two couples and a playful dog to hang out . Space to chill with lazy morning breakfasts at the farmhouse table and wind down on the sun terrace with something cool and drinkable at the end of a packed day. We never felt on top of each other and muddled around happily in the well stocked kitchen. Jane was on hand if we needed her and made sure we had everything we needed to make the most of our week. Chutney our 1 year old doodle settled in after 1 night and loved it, it’s perfect!

What a gem of a 'shack', location and host!!! We stayed for a week with 2 kids (aged 8 & 11) and Tugboat the dog and despite pretty awful weather we had the most fabulous time. The shack is beautifully and thoughtfully designed; kitted out (with everything you could possibly want) and decorated so that you get a truly Cornish experience inside and out with beautiful views. Although we didn't get to use the outdoor space much due to the weather (except the outdoor hot shower that the dog enjoyed!) - we can't wait to return in the summer!

Spent a week at the Shore Shack, we absolutely loved our stay. Thank you to Jane for her kindness & hospitality. It's a beautiful place & in complete harmony with its surroundings. We could feel the difference it made to our wellbeing & mindfulness. We had an adventure around every twist & turn from walking the rolling hills down to the sea, exploring the private beach, collecting sea shells, listening to the wind from inside the Shore Shack ,enjoying enormous juicy apples from the orchard & watching the waves crashing over the rocky outcrops. Everything we needed was provided: must return

We had a wonderful week staying in the beautiful Shore Shack. It was our first holiday with our two dogs and they absolutely loved it. We all felt really welcome and comfortable and the house is so tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. The location is brilliant, we walked to the beach every day and also explored the stunning local area by car. Jane was a wonderful host who greeted us with fresh scones and jam and cream. We would thoroughly recommend this fantastic place and really hope to return one day.

Shore Shack is an extremely comfortable and well fitted out holiday home. It’s very spacious and has private outdoor space which our dog, Alfie, made full use of! Jane, the owner, offered a very warm welcome and was happy to provide lots of local information and advice. We would definitely return and recommend anyone loving that area of Cornwall to visit.

Pam, Dartford

Shoreshack was a truly relaxing home from home, stylish and comfortable. We enjoyed the very well-equipped kitchen and the comfortable beds. The underfloor heating kept us nice and cosy on colder days, and we enjoyed sitting out on the private terrace when it was sunny. The beach hut vibe, with reclaimed materials used throughout and great attention to detail, is cool and calming. And Jane is a great hostess - happy to help if you've forgotten something as well as advise on local restaurants and days out.

The neighbourhood

This is a fabulous spot: wild swimmers, surfers, coast path hikers, birdwatchers and nature lovers will be very happy. The UK surf champion lives close by and can give lessons if you need to improve. Bude is a 10-minute drive or an hour's walk along the canal. Here you'll find independent shops, art galleries and The Barge, a dog-friendly boat on the canal. You can hire rods and fish from the beach, or bikes for miles of safe cycle path. Port Isaac and Padstow are a 40-minute drive.

Local points of interest from Jane Montague

  • Shore Shack adjoins our privately owned beach just a short walk across one of our fields leading down to the Atlantic Ocean.
  • The South West Coastal Path is also on our property which leads north towards Widemouth Bay, Widemouth Bay Café, Bay View Inn and The Beach House Bistro and shop.
  • There are local surfing, kayaking, coasteering, bike hire and wild swimming all close by. There is a fabulous cycle trail from Widemouth into Bude .
  • We are ideally located with ample parking and most popular days out are within a 45 minute drive from us. We can recommend what to see and do and the best time to do see/do them.
  • If you would prefer to exercise your dog away from others,we can offer an enclosed two acre exercise field for your sole use, overlooking the Atlantic and with views across to Widemouth Bay
  • Our wonderful Wanson Mouth beach can be hired out for special occasions.
