The Experience

Fun and friendly places to stay within sight and sound of the Atlantic. Borrow body boards, pack up a picnic and hurl yourselves into a proper seaside holiday. Children and dogs are safe to wander around a huge fenced field and there are outside hot showers for sandy toes and paws.

Underfloor heating and a wood-burner keep things cosy, there are books to read, games to play and Netflix to comfort. Owner Jane greets you and leaves basics in the kitchens plus a cream tea for when you arrive. She’s also generous enough to offer lifts to Bude or baby and dog sitting.

Join the coastal path for fabulous view-filled walks: head to Crackington Haven for the Cabin Cafe then get the bus back. Rent bikes in Bude and cycle along the canal, stock up at The Beach House Shop (20-minute walk) with freshly-caught fish. Return to magnificent sunsets, a barbecue and maybe a midnight swim.

My wife and I stayed at Shore Shack for a week to celebrate our belated honeymoon, and it could not have been more perfect. In a secluded location, yet within reach of a private beach, restaurants, and coastal walks, with amazing views from the residence. It was all we needed, and kept immaculately clean. Jane, the owner, could not have done more for us to help make our stay easier and more special. Great communication throughout and always on hand with answers to our questions or recommendations for places to go. We loved it!

Had a lovely stay, the shore shack was a great base to explore. The cottage was well maintained, comfortable and fully equipped. The views were great ,eating dinner as the sun set. Would recommend.

We had a wonderful week at the Shore Shack. It completely exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is lovely (the photos don't do it justice)- beautifully done, there is everything you could want, and our family of 4 (plus our 1 year old Labrador) felt like we were very at home. The views from the Shore Shack are fantastic - glorious rolling hills. We loved the private beach and our dog loved swimming there too. It's conveniently located for restaurants, surfing lessons and a very short drive to Bude. And, last, but not least - Jane is a wonderful host. We can't wait to go back.

A beautiful location with 20 acres of its own farmland, perfect for a morning walk or a sunset. A private beach where you can go fishing and the views are truly spectacular where you can walk to Widemouth bay or Crackington Haven. It is so quiet and peaceful here you can really switch off unwind and relax but loads to do if you want. Cottage is cosy but spacious with everything you need, good kitchen, wood-burner, great bathrooms, lovely private garden with BBQ, fire pit. Jane is extremely helpful, from booking to best recommendations. Wish we could have stayed longer, can't wait to return!

We spent a fantastic week at the Look Out. The location is great, the cottage has everything you need and more, and Jane is the most welcoming, charming host. We spent our days at the many wonderful beaches close by and came home to relax, watch the sunset and gaze at the stars. Bliss! We had such a relaxing holiday and I highly recommend the Look Out.

Helen, London

We had a wonderful time at the lookout, Jane the owner was extremely helpful, the cottage was clean and inviting with lovely little touches around and everything you would need for your stay. We really enjoyed our walks to the beach and our pups had a wonderful time playing around on the sand and having the outside hot/cold shower in the cottage garden was great for cleaning them up. We all hope to return soon.

Jayne, Addlestone

The Lookout has become our home-from-home in June. Jane is a wonderful host, with a lovely welcome every time we arrive. The house is cosy, very dog friendly and this year we watched a family of Dunnock in their nest in the garden. Jane appears to have thought of everything that a family may need - the outside shower is fabulous when you are back from the beach with your wetsuits, the cream tea in the fridge when you arrive is perfect and a walk down to the beach for sunset is a must come rain or shine.

Martin, Ebrington

We had a wonderful stay at ‘The Lookout’. It really was home from home. The owner, Jane, had pretty much thought of everything and the place was beautifully decorated and spotless. Jane was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. Its proximity to the beach was fabulous and the kids and dog loved our regular walks down there; the warm outdoor shower was a bonus for cleaning off the dog and 2 sandy children afterwards. The owner’s 3 highland cattle in the adjoining field were beautiful and the kids enjoyed feeding them. We hope to return soon.

We had the best time and loved staying in the Look Out. Its by far the best place we have stayed in in Cornwall. My husband and I with our dog Maise are walking the coastal path round Cornwall and nearly finished but this was the most gorgeous beautiful spotlessly clean place we have stayed in. Jane is a joy and so helpful. Highly recommend.

gail, worcester

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I visited Cornwall for the first time with my husband, 14yr old daughter and Golden Retriever. The owner of Jane was so welcoming and the house has everything you could ever need. It is beautifully decorated and is spacious and warm. The outdoor hot/cold shower was brilliant after a days surfing and muddy dog walks. The private beach had the most spectacular views and we spent hours beachcombing which my daughter loved. Our dog was welcomed everywhere we went which was so refreshing and we cannot wait to go back here to stay in the Sprin

Nicola, Oxfordshire

What a wonderful, well appointed and spotless place to stay. We loved it, took or 2 dogs, Jane was the perfect host, everything was there, plenty of cutlery and crockery, sounds silly, but we have stayed in places designed for 2 and only had 2 plates, 2 spoons etc. The house is roomy, warm, clean, in a great location, near to the private beach and we couldn't fault anything about the Lookout. we loved it, near enough to everything but far enough away to get proper peace and quiet, the night sky is fabulous, it is so dark at night, so quiet. We really relaxed, the dogs loved it, thank you Jane.

Sheep to Shore is the perfect little romantic getaway…it had everything we could possibly wish for, with the most incredible views to boot. Even the rain didn’t put a dampener on things – in fact cuddled up hearing the elements only added to the charm. The dogs were in heaven having an entire field to run around in & Jane was the perfect host from start to finish - she really had thought of everything. I haven’t stopped raving about this little gem & am excited about seeing what's in store for the Shore Shack. Can’t recommend enough! Thanks! Suzy, Martin & doggie co. x

Suzy, Kenilworth

Nestled in the valley a 5 minute walk to the private beach, perfect for dog walks, beach combing or sand castle building. Has it's own sheltered micro-climate, a spacious deck and outdoor shower. A perfectly formed sea breezy cottage with every mod con you could want. We LOVED our autumn visit here. Jane and Ade couldn't be more welcoming. Highly recommended and we'll be back.

The neighbourhood

You're in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and an SSSI, with walks in every direction. Bude is four miles north - head here for kayaking, paddle boarding, coasteering and lots of dog-friendly restaurants.
