The Look Out

Bude, Cornwall

Charming coastal cottage for 4 in north Cornwall nr Widemouth Bay. Surf the private beach, fire up the BBQ, nod off to the sound of the sea

2 bedrooms

Sleeps 4

You’ll linger along the scenic route to this spot, a stone skim away from one of Cornwall’s dog-friendly bays. Your greeting will be a warm one, perhaps by a pet donkey or curious Highland cow, as well as by bright and breezy owners. This is the perfect coastal hideout: barbecue, decking, and brightly coloured picnic table all await relaxed al fresco dinners after a day’s surfing. Inside it couldn’t be sweeter with a well-stocked wood-burner surrounded by sofas in an all-in-one living and dining space; the pine kitchen fits neatly along one wall, and there are quirky nautical touches to catch the eye. The seaside theme continues upstairs, the master double is a delight: a telescope will please stargazers, the remote lighting and sound system adding to the romance. Best of all you’re on the coastal path – head out to see what’s on the horizon: there are 20 acres of private land around you, great walks start from the door, Bude and Padstow are close. Baby and dog sitting available too – check out Jane’s blog. You’ll be snug and happy as a clam here.

We had a wonderful stay at ‘The Lookout’. It really was home from home. The owner, Jane, had pretty much thought of everything and the place was beautifully decorated and spotless. Jane was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. Its proximity to the beach was fabulous and the kids and dog loved our regular walks down there; the warm outdoor shower was a bonus for cleaning off the dog and 2 sandy children afterwards. The owner’s 3 highland cattle in the adjoining field were beautiful and the kids enjoyed feeding them. We hope to return soon.

We had the best time and loved staying in the Look Out. Its by far the best place we have stayed in in Cornwall. My husband and I with our dog Maise are walking the coastal path round Cornwall and nearly finished but this was the most gorgeous beautiful spotlessly clean place we have stayed in. Jane is a joy and so helpful. Highly recommend.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I visited Cornwall for the first time with my husband, 14yr old daughter and Golden Retriever. The owner of Jane was so welcoming and the house has everything you could ever need. It is beautifully decorated and is spacious and warm. The outdoor hot/cold shower was brilliant after a days surfing and muddy dog walks. The private beach had the most spectacular views and we spent hours beachcombing which my daughter loved. Our dog was welcomed everywhere we went which was so refreshing and we cannot wait to go back here to stay in the Sprin

What a wonderful, well appointed and spotless place to stay. We loved it, took or 2 dogs, Jane was the perfect host, everything was there, plenty of cutlery and crockery, sounds silly, but we have stayed in places designed for 2 and only had 2 plates, 2 spoons etc. The house is roomy, warm, clean, in a great location, near to the private beach and we couldn't fault anything about the Lookout. we loved it, near enough to everything but far enough away to get proper peace and quiet, the night sky is fabulous, it is so dark at night, so quiet. We really relaxed, the dogs loved it, thank you Jane.

Sheep to Shore is the perfect little romantic getaway…it had everything we could possibly wish for, with the most incredible views to boot. Even the rain didn’t put a dampener on things – in fact cuddled up hearing the elements only added to the charm. The dogs were in heaven having an entire field to run around in & Jane was the perfect host from start to finish - she really had thought of everything. I haven’t stopped raving about this little gem & am excited about seeing what's in store for the Shore Shack. Can’t recommend enough! Thanks! Suzy, Martin & doggie co. x

Nestled in the valley a 5 minute walk to the private beach, perfect for dog walks, beach combing or sand castle building. Has it's own sheltered micro-climate, a spacious deck and outdoor shower. A perfectly formed sea breezy cottage with every mod con you could want. We LOVED our autumn visit here. Jane and Ade couldn't be more welcoming. Highly recommended and we'll be back.
