The
Experience

Gather up family or friends and bring them to this huge house, a five-minute walk from St Ives with a panoramic view of the bay. It’s light and airy all day and filled with Andrea’s art (you can buy it if you like) and handmade furniture.

There’s plenty of room for all in the open plan dining and sitting room, a large table perfect for family dinners and late-night chats and a huge bean bag ready to be dive-bombed. It’s a hide and seekers dream with two floors of spacious bedrooms and a secret room hidden behind a bookcase which curious little ones will love.

Take the party to the little suntrap outside and enjoy the welcome hamper or stoke up the barbecue. Wander down to Porthminster Beach, perfect for paddlers, or soak in the culture at Tate St Ives, a short stroll through cobbled streets.

Double bedroom with seating area looking out of the bay window

Location

The neighbourhood

The house overlooks St. Ives Bay, with views towards Godrevy Lighthouse (made famous by Virginia Woolfe) and the child friendly blue flag Porthminster beach is just five minutes walk away. Ten minutes and you’re in the many excellent restaurants, shops and pubs of St Ives – you might even spot a seal in the harbour. Art lovers will enjoy exploring the galleries dotted through the town, Porthmeor Beach offers surfing lessons and the South West Coast Path promises stunning walks.

Local points of interest from Peter Williams & Andrea Carr

  • Just 5 minutes walk from Porthminster Beach, a blue flag beach that due to its gently sloping sand is perfect for children.
  • Tate St. Ives is just a 10 - 15 minute stroll through the quaint cobbled streets. The world famous gallery reopened in Oct 2017. The Barbara Hepworth house and gardens is also worth a visit
  • St. Ives has more than it's fair share of fantastic restaurants, the award winning Porthminster Beach Cafe, the Porthmeor Beach Cafe perfect for a relaxing meal watching the sun set. There are many other great restaurants and all within walking distance
  • Further out of town there are some fantastic coastal paths all with stunning scenery, from St. Michaels Mount to Lands End on the south coast and from Lands End to St. Ives on the north. On a clear day you can see the Scilly Isles!
  • About an hours drive away is the world renowned Eden Project, with its two domes one temperate and one tropical full of interesting walks and a perfect day out for all the family (hint don't go there when it's raining as everyone else in Cornwall does)

Introducing

Peter Williams & Andrea Carr

Andrea and Peter moved to St. Ives by chance. Originally looking for a small bolthole to escape from London life they fell for a big hotel and moved their life to the Cornish coast in 2002. They ran a successful B&B here for ten years before moving back to London for family reasons. Andrea is an artist and set designer for theatre and Peter is a keen photographer, you can see (and purchase) their work that’s dotted around the house.
