The Experience

Wake to the smell of coffee and croissants; sweep down the Regency stair. Everything here is delightful, from the breakfasts (something special for everyone) to the generous on-hand hosts. Walk the coastal path to Mousehole; catch the ‘coaster’ to St Ives; set off for the spectacular Minack Theatre to see a play at dusk.

Kirsten and Trevor love to entertain, join them for a drink each evening at six. Their elegant home, once the dower house for Penlee, glows with harmonious colours and modern art. Rooms are flooded with light, sofas are sumptuous, all feels lovely and calm.

They don’t do meals but they do tapas on request. Take a shared platter to the walled courtyard, or the charming dining room. Excellent restaurants are a 15-minute stroll… to Penzance, and the fishing port of Newlyn.

Reviews

Our stay at the The Summerhouse was a real treat with a delightful comfortable room, brilliant hosts, lovely breakfasts and a charming courtyard for afternoon tea or later drinks. It is situated in a lovely residential area, minutes from the stunning promenade and lido. Penzance is a fascinating town which filled our three-night stay with walks, swims, museums, architecture, art and great food.

The décor has cool seaside vibes, the rooms are well equipped, with amazing bathrooms, and the beds are so comfortable you’ll not want to get up! However, what will get you out of bed is the fantastic, freshly cooked breakfast that will set you up for the day (lots of options are available). All in all, a truly wonderful place to stay and we’ll definitely be back, thank you to our hosts Trevor & Kirsten for a fabulous weekend!

Simon, Devon

Returned to Cornwall for the first time in about 20 years, and chose to stay here on the basis of their excellent reviews - we were not disappointed! I could only repeat what others have written, will simply confirm that this is a totally excellent place to stay

Mandy, Hampshire

I'm going to keep this brief. Simply superb in every way. A real pleasure to stay there and if we have the opportunity we will definitely be back. A beautiful and restful house, great hospitality, very comfortable and lovely breakfasts.

Tony, Bath

A truly lovely experience, the Summerhouse exudes warmth, style and charm. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, the showers suitably blasting, the breakfasts really good and the evening dishes innovative (and tasty!). A pleasure to stay at.

Simon, London

This boutique B and B is lovely - filled with art and comfortable furniture. The bedrooms are sumptuous, and the early breakfast - before catching the ferry to the scillies - was beautifully presented and just perfect. I wish we could have stayed for longer.

Alan, Portsmouth

We have just finished a five night stay with Trevor and Kirsten at The Summer House. It was absolutely perfect from start to the end of our time there... Trevor and Kirsten couldn't do enough to ensure we felt comfortable and at home, taking time to help us research our days out, sharing local knowledge with us and even helping us park our car. Starting our days with a fantastic and extremely delicious choice of breakfast, then coming back after a day exploring to the friendliest hosts and most beautiful house was fabulous

Vicki, Reading

just left this fantastic summer house after our stay in Penzance. We have never felt so well looked after and welcomed before. The atmosphere created in the home is peaceful and friendly. The eye to finest detail is impeccable which makes The Summer House a beautiful place to stay. Breakfast is like no other. Trust the amazing reviews on The Summer House, just like we did! definitely coming back

Weronica, Worcester

Kirsten and Trevor have thought of everything. All the touches and attention to detail made our stay special. They helped us with our plans and made us feel like we were the only guests there. Breakfast was fantastic and they accommodated any particular requests. Blankets for sitting out in the garden, complimentary tea, coffee and snacks - it was a perfect stay.

Jane, Cambridge

This is a must stay. The room, the breakfasts and the impeccable service is par excellence! Trevor and Kirsten are so friendly and accommodating, I can see how everyone rates their stay with 5 stars!!!

Ronald, USA

Trevor and Kirsten are the perfect hosts and did everything within their power to make our holiday fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. A fountain of local knowledge to help get the most out of seeing the area. Accommodation beautiful. Everything you could wish for and more. Food amazing with wonderful choice. Very close to the tow n centre - 15 minutes walk.

Ann, Nottingham

Trevor and Kirsten are excellent hosts- nothing was too much trouble. The food presentation and quality was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We had a pre-dinner drink in the garden which was very pleasant. Our arranged ferry to the Scilly Isles was cancelled due to weather conditions- we had to leave The Summer House a day earlier than planned, which was unfortunate as we were enjoying our stay.

This is my first review on Trip Advisor although I always do my research here before I book anywhere. I'm compelled to leave a review of The Summer House because it is outstanding. I know it has all been said before, but Trevor and Kirsten are remarkable folk and made us feel like we were visiting old friends instead of paying guests. The house itself is super comfortable, beautifully decorated and perfectly located. There attention to detail makes for a fantastic experience. The food could not be bettered. Rush to stay here.

If you're looking to stay in Cornwall, book here. Without a doubt the best place my girlfriend and I have ever stayed. Trevor & Kirsten were born to host, they effortlessly made us feel at home....The room was perfect. The comfiest bed made a great nights sleep. A super powerful shower made for a relaxing end to the day. All of the extras you'd hope for were provided. Speaking of extras we were provided with a blanket and an umbrella to take with us on our trips. We cannot recommend this place enough and would tell everybody to stay here.

Max, Essex

The Summer House is the most delightful place to stay, with attention to detail around every corner. The hosts Trevor and Kirsten were friendly, attentive, generous and were born for the role! During the stay there was nothing to fault, it has to be the best place we’ve ever stayed in and such reasonably priced, my partner and I couldn’t believe it! If you get chance to stay here you’re very lucky and in for a treat! ...The house itself is gorgeously decorated, with beautiful artwork from Kirsten....The only place to stay in Penzance, thank you again to Trevor and Kirsten.

Rebecca, Kings Lynn

We can't recommend this guest house enough! Our whole experience was outstanding and Trevor and Kirsten went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our stay. I stayed here the night before my wedding and the night of my wedding with my husband. The hotel was beautiful, I thought the photos on the website were lovely but they don't do it justice, it was beautiful and even smelled wonderful. Trevor and Kirsten were so welcoming and accommodating......

Eloise, Reading

Great hosts - couldn't do enough for us. They truly make the difference. Great location- quiet but close to centre of Penzance and the seafront. Great food - breakfast and delicious cakes on arrival. Very clean and uniquely furnished. Car parking a bit tight but not much they can do about that. At least they have free parking near the centre and we managed.

Keith, Farnham

Perfect for extended family breaks. Trevor and his wife are the greatest of hosts. They have created a warm and friendly environment with great facilities. Parking is great with 4 spaces and more on the street. A wonderful breakfast menu and fabulous dining room. 2 mins walk to the sea with a great pub on the way. We will definitely be staying again.

Oliver, Swansea

I don’t usually write reviews but I felt compelled to write one as we loved everything about The Summer House! Trevor and Kirsten were perfect hosts, they were friendly and attentive and able to offer great suggestions for things to do and places to go. They were warm and welcoming without being officious and nothing was too much trouble....Thank you both for making our stay so memorable, we will definitely come again and bring our bikes with us too!

Lysa, London
