The Experience

Wooden floors, fresh flowers and a welcoming cream tea are waiting at this little bolthole for two – or one looking for some privacy and space. You’ll also find some lovely local produce in the fridge for your first breakfast and treats from the garden in season. Fabrics are pretty, the sofa is soft and through each window there are gorgeous garden views.

You’re welcome to wander the gardens, find quiet places to sit with a book and on warmer days use the pool. There are 20 further acres of wild meadows with mown paths and pasture land – this is mid-Cornwall at its most beautiful. Your bed can be a twin or double, there’s a bathtub in the room and a separate walk-in shower room with underfloor heating.

If you love food and wine, dine at The Ugly Butterfly Carbis Bay, drop in to 45 Queen Street Penzance or visit St Eia Wines in St Ives – choose local treats and come back to one of the picnic tables in the meadows on balmy evenings.

We immediately felt a very warm, detailed and thoughtful atmosphere as we entered our comfortable Studio. The house, the cottages, the gardens, the pool and the hidden corners are magnificent. This is indeed a very special place. The accommodation is very well thought through in every detail and is wonderful to relax into and feel cared for. It is understated and generous luxury from the flowers on the window sills, to the beds, the sheets, the shower/bath and welcome basket. The swimming pool is a delight. The gardens are beautiful and tended with loving care. Karen and Nick are excellent hosts, full of ideas of where to go and what to do and ready to offer support with whatever is needed. We had a fantastic holiday and feel much restored.

We have stayed at Enys a number of times over the last couple of years and continue to be drawn back to the peace and tranquillity of the location. Nick and Karen are so very welcoming and suggested some lovely places to visit and spectacular walks along parts of the coastal path we hadn't previously visited. Trencom is very well equipped and was perfect for our stay over a long weekend. We look forward to visiting again soon.

When I arrived at Ennys I felt an immediate sense of calm. I felt incredibly welcome by Karen and Nick and was greeted by the very friendly dogs too. I can imagine staying here, watching the sun go down with a glass of fizz after a day on the nearby beaches or walking for miles in the beautiful countryside.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're on the edge of a valley with the River Hayle and there are many footpaths to wander and the feel is remote. Two good farm shops can be found in a 10-minute drive, Trevellyan and Trevaskis. Porthleven is about 8 miles away and has a really good choice of places to eat, as does Newlyn, just a mile further. North and south coast beaches are just a quarter of an hour in the car.

Local points of interest from Karen West

Visit St Michaels Mount at low tide. Walk the Causeway in the moonlight. Or join the South West Coastal path and explore the Tin Coast and Zennor for a more bracing walk.
Swim at nearby romantic Prussia Cove with its secluded coves or the sandy beach of Perranuthnoe. Admire the dramatic scenery and the historic mining history of West Penwith. Learn to surf at Godrevy overlooking the lighthouse, or kitesurfing at Marazion.
Within a few miles of Ennys, enjoy delicious dishes at The Gurnard's Head near Zennor, sip great wines at St Eia in St Ives or choose from a number of interesting places to eat in pretty Mousehole.
Drive to Porthleven for a selection of pubs/ shops/galleries, cafes /restaurants including Kota, Kota Kai or Origin Coffee Roastery with its summer pop ups and growing reputation for great coffee, uber tasty food and delicious cocktails.
Book tickets for a play at the breathtaking open-air Minack theatre with its broad sweeping ocean views. Tour the galleries of St Ives, including the Tate and Barbara Hepworth museum and don't forget to drop in at the Leach Pottery too while you are there.
Visit National Trust property Godolphin House, Glendurgan Gardens, Trengwainton Gardens and the Penrose Estate. The Lizard peninsula and famous Kynance Cove are a short drive away.

Introducing

Karen West

Karen and Nick moved to Cornwall having spent holidays here and gradually being drawn to the area. They initially lived near Truro before deciding to make West Cornwall their permanent home. They fell in love with Ennys at first sight and continue to develop and nurture it. This is a calming place to stay with a huge amount of history - do ask Karen and Nick about it.
