The Experience

This super-chic B&B started life in the 1850s as a fisherman’s cottage. These days it’s a small-scale version of a design hotel, pristine from top to toe. It’s the result of an 18-month renovation and it sits in the old town, a two-minute stroll from the beach. Inside, form and function rule the roost: everything is beautiful, nothing superfluous. Interiors come in blue and white with fresh flowers, local art, beautiful ceramics, and umbrellas in case it rains. Downstairs is open-plan – a small sitting room with an honesty bar concealed in a ‘50s dresser on one side, on the other a dining room where you sit at Ercol tables and tuck into an excellent breakfast under hanging lamps. Rooms have Hypnos beds, crisp linen, beautiful fabrics and impeccably upholstered armchairs. Three have sea views, all have smart TVs, coffee machines and hot-water bottles. Bathrooms are flawless: underfloor heating, walk-in showers, white robes and Neal’s Yard oils, perhaps a claw-foot bath. Outside, labyrinthine lanes lead to the harbour, sandy beaches, art galleries and lots of delicious restaurants. Dreamy.

The whole establishment is exactly as you say but Olivia’s breakfasts are not just excellent ..... they are in a league of their own... imaginative and delicious using the very best local and organic ingredients.

Wonderful house to stay in, fantastic breakfasts, hosts and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again for next year.

Local points of interest from Angela & Olivier Noverraz

  • If staying with us mid-week, enquire about a private tour of the Sandra Blow Estate - usually on Thursdays. Amazing abstract artist works behind closed doors that can only be viewed by private appointment.
  • Coastal walk towards Hayle estuary - take in breathtaking views over St Ives Bay and end at Scarlet Wines for a well deserved tapas lunch paired with excellent wine. Walk back if you're brave enough or hop on the coastal train back to St Ives.
  • If you're a budding artist or would like to try your hand at it, why not subscribe to a course at the St Ives arts school.
  • Visit the St Ives Arts and Music Festival in September!
  • Visit the Food Festival in May!
