The Experience

Pippa and Hugo’s large Victorian house is set in a tiny hamlet on the outskirts of Padstow, surrounded by fields and looking down towards the sea. You’re welcomed into their home and have a key to come and go as you please.

The bedrooms are set off a large hallway upstairs; help yourself to a drink from the ‘tipple table’ and retreat to the comfort of your room. Every home comfort has been thought of, from a generous tea tray and coffee maker to fresh butter biscuits, hot water bottles, a mini fridge with fresh milk and water and gorgeous Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Come down to lavish breakfasts around the kitchen table – Hugo and Pippa are both ex-restauranteurs so know their stuff, and the menu includes pretty much anything you could think of from cereals, porridge and pastries to a full Cornish. Wander into Padstow, half a mile down the road, for good delis, restaurants and cafes; there are wineries, cycle routes and great beaches nearby too.

Reviews

A very welcoming Pippa and Hugo really do all they can to make your stay here very special. Their fabulous home-cooked breakfasts are legendary, and they happily impart their local knowledge to their guests, who return year on year. Woodlands is a wonderfully traditional B&B where you'll find the very best creature comforts to ensure a great stay.

The neighbourhood

The house stands large and grand just back from the road and is half a mile from Padstow – walk there in 20 minutes. Trevibben Mill and Winery offer wine tours and great food, the Camel Trail is good for cycling and seven of Cornwall's finest bays for swimming and water sports are minutes away (but check which are dog-friendly in summer). Grade-I listed Prideaux Place house and gardens is 10 minutes' walk.

Introducing

Hugo & Pippa Woolley

Hugo and Pippa live in the main house with their sweet little dog and have a very open and easy manner. They’re a fountain of local and especially foodie knowledge and are happy to chat as little or as much as you like. Hugo was a London restauranteur and Pippa a caterer, and they moved to Cornwall from Tunbridge Wells in 2002 to run a B&B, something Pippa has always wanted to do.
