The
Experience

Wow, fabulous views – fells and mountains in every direction including Blencathra, the most climbed fell in the Lakes. Robyns Barn is attached to the main house, and it’s all yours. Step into a large, welcoming open-plan space: limewashed walls, big oak table, beams, antique pine, toasty wood-burner and plenty of DVDs, books and games. Inviting bedrooms, upstairs, have sheepskins on wooden floors. Wake when you want – Kathryn leaves a continental breakfast with homemade bread, muesli, fruit, yogurts; there’s a farm shop close by serving excellent cooked breakfasts too. The garden has a picnic area, barbecue – and those views!

Reviews

I recently stayed at Robyn's Barn with my Mum and sisters as part of a birthday celebration. We had a truly lovely time and cannot recommend the place highly enough. The Vaughan family made us feel really welcome and there were lots of personal touches that make Robyn's Barn stand out from the rest e.g. homemade cake on arrival and a birthday card for my sisters! The house has been furnished beautifully and we spent a lot of time marvelling at all the detail. We could also recommend the evening meal option which was delicious and very convenient after a day walking!

Laura

Wonderful spot with amazing views. Beautiful and comfy space, delicious bed with crispy linen, wood burning stove, lovely friendly hosts - Kathryn gets all the details just right. Can't recommend this highly enough. NB for internet addicts, wifi is patchy in this property

I highly recommend Robyn's Barn if you are looking for a homely, comfortable, cosy, rustic place to stay in the Lake District. It's easy to access from the M6, minutes from Keswick and a short drive from masses of stunning spots. The converted barn has a traditional and modern feel, with a fabulous view towards the northern fells. Breakfast is sophisticated, generous, healthy... and less healthy if you want. I can't wait to revisit, Robyn's Barn is a real gem and the owners are lovely too.

Robyn's Barn is the most wonderful place to stay! The cottage is so cosy, the perfect place to return to after a day on the fells, and the option of a home made meal from the very welcoming host, Kathryn, means that you can look forward to a blissful evening by the log burner. This is so much more than a B+B!

Caroline, Nantwich

Had another great stay at the Barn, weather was not so kind but plenty to do down in Keswick with some great coffee and outdoor shops. Ade & Kathryn were very friendly and welcoming, nice and quiet with clean and comfortable accommodation, with quiet atmosphere and stunning views, definitely will be back soon!

John, Abredeen

This is a very beautifully decorated and thoughtfully renovated barn - a perfect stop en route to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland as it is just off the M6 and was half way on our journey. It was incredibly comfortable and welcoming, the breakfast was excellent and it is also well located for some of the good walks in the Lakes - we shall have to return!

Sian, Minchinhampton

A really brilliant place to stay, especially in the winter. It made us want to leave home and live there! Loved the style and décor, the hand crafted joinery, the comfortable bed, the clean modern shower room, and most of all the wood burner (it was a cold wet February). We were going to eat out but decided to spend both evenings in to make the most of our short stay at Robyns Barn.

Neil, Hereford

I recently stayed here with a couple of old friends. It was perfect for our reunion. Warm, cosy, so welcoming and such a brilliant location. I love the Lakes and it was just on our doorstep. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, everything was very homely and it didn't matter in the slightest that breakfast was left out for us. We could please ourselves and take the mornings at our leisure. I couldn't recommend this highly enough. The nearby pub was also night-time walking distance with a head torch and did great food! Hope to stay again.

Beth, Newmarket

We can't recommend Robyn's barn highly enough - it was a fantastic place to stay and Kathryn and Adrian were so welcoming from the moment we arrived. The Barn itself is so cosy it was difficult to tear ourselves away. A beautiful place in a beautiful setting, we will definitely be returning soon!

Ceri

A truly special place to stay! To arrive on a cold evening to this gorgeous, cosy barn with the stove roaring, fresh coffee ready to go and homemade parkin demanding to be eaten was a real treat. Kathryn and Adrian are so helpful, and following their tips on walking, cycling and cafe stops meant we had the perfect weekend away!

Cherry

A great stay in the beautifully appointed Robyn's Barn. Lovely hospitality from Kathryn, Adrian and Robyn, not to mention delicious home-made cake and muffins. Plenty of walks and good pubs within striking distance of the Barn. All in all, a very comfortable stay in a lovely setting, accompanied by an extremely friendly welcome.

Gary

Extraordinary hospitality, and a very comfortable place to stay. The home-cooked dinner was great!

Chris

This incredibly unique property exudes an incredible aura of serenity and peace. Off the beaten track and surrounded by stunning countryside, we couldn't have wished for a more genuinely warm welcome by Kathryn and Adrian. A font of information on everything you need or would simply like to know - rambling, climing, cycling, shopping. The breakfast they provided, home-bread bread with preserves, local yoghurts, fruit juices and so on, was just perfect. Wanting to sample the cuisine of the local area, we opted not to have the home-made supper that was on offer, but next time we will.

Andrea

We had a wonderful time whilst staying in Robyn's Barn for New Year for a few days, the Vaughan's looked after us and guided us in the right directions to have a wonderful time in the lake's and were very knowledgeable of the area, the barn itself is amazing with wonderful decor and a lovely warm log burner for the cold winters nights, highly recommended to anyone, we will definitely be returning this year at some point, thanks to Adrian & Kathryn and of course Robyn.
