The Mount

Myself and family have just returned home after a fantastic few days staying at the Mount guest house. We loved everything about the Mount and it's location. From the minute we arrived Clive and Caroline were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. They also were very knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area and that benefitted us immensely. We would certainly love to make a return visit in the future.

The Mount is a truly outstanding property, ideally placed and wonderfully furnished and everywhere, spotlessly clean. Returning after a 24 hour fell run support task it was a delight to slumber in the comfort of their luxurious beds. We have enjoyed both B&B and self catering and will definitely be returning - if we can get in! Situated in the delightful village of Portinscale on the edge of Derwent Water, it offers free parking, wonderful cafes and a pub all nearby. It is only 15 minutes (flat) walk into Keswick and the popular Catbells is close by. Caroline and Clive are superb hosts.

We have stayed at The Mount several times now and have our next visit booked. It is a beautiful guest house and Caroline and Clive are friendly and welcoming hosts. They have thought of everything and have a great eye for detail, with lots of small touches that make each stay perfect. The Mount is genuinely dog friendly and our Jack Russell enjoys his visits just as much as we do. Portinscale is a superb location, a peaceful village that is only a ten minute walk from Keswick's busy town centre. It is very close to Derwentwater, has two marinas, a great cafe and pub, and, of course, there are

We stayed at the Mount for a family celebration. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated and with lovely personal touches everywhere. Clive and Caroline were brilliant hosts, with lots of local information about where we could go to shop and eat and find fun things to do with the family. The house is in a great location, within walking distance to Keswick, but out of the hustle and bustle. We had breakfast outside every day in the pretty garden which obviously has been lovingly planted and maintained. We had our little dog with us too and there are lots of great walks nearby.

This is a perfect place to introduce family and friends to the lake district as you are totally surrounded by mountains and Derwentwater - in fact, you can see them from every bedroom window. In the village of Portinscale, everything you could want is on the doorstep - no car journeys needed. Kayaking, sailing, eating in lovely nearby cafes, trips on the Keswick launch and Keswick's famous Theatre.

We are all had the most wonderful time at the Mount. I've never stayed in such a lovely B&B. B&B is such an inadequate way to describe it, you've really created more of a mix of a fantasy Lakeland retreat and a luxury hotel. The attention to detail is just stunning, and has made me feel profoundly inadequate. So many lovely things.
