Dianne and Ian have spent years renovating their attractive Lakeland stone water mill. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, it dates from the 13th century and one of the grinding stones is set in the traditional sitting room. Arrive to afternoon tea next to the fire, or by the summerhouse overlooking the mill stream and pretty valley. Fresh bedrooms have comfy beds and coordinating fabrics. Wake to home-grown fruits, homemade jams and eggs from the hens; Dianne is happy to do supper too. Wander the beautiful garden, visit historic homes and market town Kirkby Lonsdale; great walking and cycling, and close to the A590 so a good Scotland stop-over.
