Here in the grounds of a private estate is a slice of designer heaven. Peace on earth, for a couple or a party of 10. Dogs welcome

Bring friends, dogs, bikes, and hike from the door. In the grounds of the Parwich Lees Estate, surrounded by swathes of velvety fields and clumps of ancient trees, is a row of three gabled workers’ cottages built of red brick, converted from a 19th-century barn. This is the heart of the Peaks, miles from civilisation but minutes from The George, an unspoilt foodie pub in the village of Alstonefield, replete with its own vegetable garden. Each cottage has been stunningly styled, a symphony in white with immaculate walls and old painted boards, and timbers softly sanded. Each is cosy and luxurious, with upstairs living rooms for Curlew and Redstart – be wowed by the sunsets and views. Lovely fresh, open-plan kitchens are bang up to date, and homely too, bathrooms are fabulous, and winter wood-burners glow (Wheatear and Curlew only). Step outside with a beer and soak up the peace – and the views; if you like privacy, you’ll like Curlew's lawn. Sedate pursuits include taking tea at Tissington, enjoying opera at Buxton, and marvelling at the wonders of Chatsworth House.
