Glorious Georgian house with the most engaging, friendly hosts: you’re in for a treat. The pineapple-topped gateposts are a symbol of hospitality, and you arrive for tea and cake by the fire in the splendid drawing room. Sleep well in elegant bedrooms; beds are topped with good linen, there are interesting books to browse and the views are stunning. Rosemaré’s breakfasts are”‘legendary” – a local, usually organic, spread with her wonderful Staffordshire oat cakes. Pretty villages, historic houses, Nordic walking, riding, fly fishing on the river Dove… the area is dreamy and Cedric is happy to arrange activities.

Our four nights in this lovely elegant Georgian family house were perfect. We were made to feel like invited weekend guests from our initial welcome with a sumptuous tea in front of a roaring open fire to our departure after an excellent full breakfast. Cedric and Rose are charming and could not do enough for us; with advice on places to visit and routes and making bookings for dinners. Our bedroom was immaculate with a large shower-cum-dressing room, very comfortable bed, the best linen and fresh towels each day. For any visit to the Peak District, this is a "must". We plan to return.

Our stay with Rosemarie and Cedric was just lovely. Such a pleasant and accommodating couple. It was a joy to spend time in their beautiful home in the spectacular Dales....we hope to return in the not too distant future.

We haven't had a night away without children in eleven years. We took great care selecting our retreat. Hinchley Wood promised what we were looking for and more than delivered! Rose and Cedric treated us like treasured family friends in need of a rest cure. Their home, like them, is warm, welcoming and high quality. Old fashioned hospitality, that I hope never changes because we want to come back again and again. If you like the homogenised corporate look, stay away; please!

Rose and Cedric were wonderful and helpful hosts -Rose literally went out of her way to help us start on a walking trail. The house is beautiful and well-cared for. Lovely and peaceful ambiance and in a beautiful location. Would definitely go there again. Great nights sleep in a gorgeous 4-poster. Would recommend for people who like gardening, good food, walking and visiting the countryside and towns/villages around this area -fantastic Autumn weekend.

Hinchley Wood is a B&B in a beautiful Georgian mansion which is well decorated and welcoming. Rose and Cedric Stevenson could not have been more hospitable, from the home-baked teas through to the wonderful cooked breakfasts that Rose prepared, to the rides that Cedric gave us to excellent local gastropubs like the Duncan Arms in the evenings. Their charm and knowledge made me feel like a local insider. The bedroom was sumptuous and it was difficult to leave the comfort of the four-poster bed. There are many delightful touches at the house including fresh cut flowers and Jo Malone amenities.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hinchley Wood. The hall and setting were so lovely, with magnificent walks along the River Dove on the doorstep. Rosemarie and Cedric were delightful hosts, who looked after our every need, from cooking delicious breakfasts, providing afternoon tea on their gorgeous patio, and making us comfortable in their beautifully appointed blue room, to showing us around the estate. They even drove us a few miles to drop us at a fabulous pub for dinner. A very special weekend, cannot recommend highly enough, we will return.

What a relaxing retreat! Perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the Countryside. The rooms are bright, clean and beautifully decorated, and the bed was so comfortable. Haven't slept so well for ages. Breakfast was delicious and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Highly recommend Hinchley Wood! We will be returning for sure.
