Tucked into the very lovely vale of Edale, a pair of exceptional stone cottages done up in fresh contemporary style. Come for rest and relaxation: the views are stunning, the peace is a balm. Inside are beamed ceilings, stone walls, deep-set windows, log fires, and luxurious towels in sparkling bathrooms – what more could you want? The feel is quirky with a mix of modern and vintage finds, the furniture is stylish and comfortable, and the fresh flowers, throws, books, DVDs and games add a deliciously friendly feel. Downstairs space in Curlew is open-plan while both have traditional country kitchens; bedrooms are upstairs, smallish but with warm colours, gentle lighting, great views and top-notch linen. You could spend the whole day at glorious Chatsworth, or potter in charming Bakewell and Buxton. Bring your hiking boots for the Derbyshire peaks; walks start from the door. Return to a glass of wine in your tree-sheltered cottage garden as the children play in the paddock. Lovely owners Keith and Jenny live next door, and tuck freshly baked scones or a cake into your welcome basket.
