Walk from the door along the river bank to spy rare beavers and shy otters. Bike safely from here to the outskirts of Sidmouth (four miles), find a nature reserve just across the valley.Drive to adventure parks, kayaking, kitesurfing, fossil hunting – and festivals galore. Make a pit stop for dinner at the nearby Rusty Pig, run by a former River Cottage Chef. Return to a large west-facing garden for children to tear about in and you to sit in with a glass of wine. There’s a barbecue here too.
