Deep in the South Hams is a working organic dairy farm with six cottages – ideal for families and outdoorsy couples – and a beach hut for real adventurers. The coastal path is on the doorstep and the sandy beach a short amble. The cottages are nicely spread out so you’ve got your own space and each is charmingly individual: The Mews (sleeps two) is a stone barn conversion with a funky roll-top bath; charming Crofters (a rustic stone cottage) and The Lodge (timber eco-house) both sleep four and are super dog-friendly. Each cottage has its own garden/outside space, two have wood-fired hot tubs, there’s a fabulous kids play area, and you’re welcome to come and watch the cows being milked in the dairy parlour. Inside find open-plan kitchen/dining areas, roomy living spaces with wood-burners, comfy beds, cooking basics, and fresh meat from the farm – pop your money in the honesty box. Then there’s the stone cabin Beach Hut perched on a private cove – no electricity, compost loo, 15-minute walk from the car but the incredible sea views make it worthwhile. Heaps to do nearby or stay put and watch the sun set, glass of wine in hand.
