The
Experience
From the hilltop gaze south over swaying masts in the Kingsbridge estuary whilst north is dramatic Dartmoor, then drop into a secluded valley with views to fields of horses and woodland. The Grange – a former ecclesiastical farm with cottages each named after a vicar – has been transformed into the perfect setting for young families and couples (at quieter times). The stone barns have contemporary interiors with vaulted roofs and the living space upstairs to make the most of views over the large garden and lake (safely fenced): wood-burners, comfy sofas and carved pine furniture are stylish and pristine. Kitchens are new, with black granite worktops and top quality appliances. In bathrooms oak floors shine beneath Heritage suites and stone tiles. Everything is in tip-top condition and the beds are fabulously comfortable. Outside are sheltered terraces, some private, with Colby’s being the sunniest: the indoor pool is a blessing for non-beach days; a nature trail; a huge lawn; a Wendy house stuffed with toys and a brand new indoor play area with train set, activity cube, football table and retro games console will keep children happy for hours. Sharon and her super thoughtful team can organise all sorts of treats and there’s even a marine biologist for rock pooling on the many fabulous local beaches.

My wife and I (along with our dog) stayed in Granary cottage for a long weekend. Welcomed to local apple juice, homemade biscuits, tea and coffee along with milk in the fridge, set up the tone for our stay, (even doggy blanket and treats for Bumble!) Granary was a perfect base for us to explore the area, well equipped kitchen and extremely conformable bed . Sharon was such a thoughtful host, we look forward to returning.

Travelling with two young children, holidays can be stressful but as soon as we stepped in the door we knew we would have a good week. Thoughtful toys and books had been laid our for our little ones, squeaks of delight as they discovered books in their beds! Our cottage was clean, very comfortable and we could not have asked for more, rainy days were not a problem as the indoor pool provided hours of fun, plenty of exploring and giggles had on the large play field and further afield we explored this stunning area we will definitely be back for another relaxing family break soon, thank you.
