The Experience

A central spot for this spacious, light-filled Sea Captain’s House in the centre of Salcombe. Enjoy estuary and sandy beach views from every angle on three terraces; find a sociable table and barbecue for fair-weather dining and sun loungers surrounded by lavender and greenery.

Pack up buckets, spades and fishing nets and jump on the Salcombe ferry over to sandy beaches in East Portlemouth or head to South Sands (half an hour walk) for paddle boarding. Walkers can join the South West Coast Path in town with spectacular paths in either direction – the route to Bolt Head is particularly inspiring.

Cook in the well-equipped large open plan kitchen (with more dreamy views); find a wine fridge (and a welcome bottle) and cocktail corner kitted out with glasses and shaker – everything you need for a lively dinner party.

Reviews

Cannot recommend Dorset House and Freya highly enough! We had a fantastic week in this beautiful and very well equipped home. It has stunning views and the bedrooms are very comfortable with Vispring mattresses and super soft bed linen. For rainy days there is an enormous tv with Sky Sports which was much appreciated by our football obsessed party! Freya was very helpful and responsive and even sent back my favourite knife which I left in the house. I'm sure we will be back.

What a truly wonderful property, the views are outstanding and the location is unbeatable! Freya is a superb host! Nothing is too much trouble and she has a genuine desire to ensure you have a great stay. Highly recommend both the house and Freya.

Leanne, Coventry

What a beautiful house in the best location. Visited for a week with friends, had everything we needed for entertaining as well as relaxing. Worked there too as the wifi was great. Can’t beat the view! Would definitely stay again.

J, London

Amazing stay in Salcombe, what a great house! Beautiful balcony, quiet and peaceful surroundings, great kitchen area, short walk to Salcombe (1 min). Would stay again. Thank you to Freya for all of her help!

Jenna, London

A five star holiday! Our stay in Dorset House, Salcombe was an experience we'll treasure forever. The house itself is stylish and modern whilst being comfortable and welcoming. The views down to the town and the glittering estuary beyond were incomparable. The kitchen was a joy to cook in, the bathrooms luxurious and the balconies were the perfect places to get together after glorious sunny days and watch the world go by with a glass of wine. Sawday's were a pleasure to deal with too.

Cathy, Nottingham

Freya was very kind, understanding and helpful and offered us a full refund when we had to cancel our booking due to the virus outbreak. We were very disappointed not to be going, but we shall definitely be booking this beautiful house at later date.

Jill, London

You'll be the envy of the town - what a location! It'll be hard to tear yourself away from the views but once you do - you're only a short walk/ferry ride away from some of the most beautiful, sandy beaches in the South West. Dorset House is spacious and stylish and really well equipped for a holiday with friends and family - I can't recommend it enough.

A wide sandy beach and ice creams are less than a 10-minute drive in Bantham.
