Breakfast gives the game away – a different menu every day! Cathy and James (he a teacher, she an ex-nurse) are the best hosts ever. They live with a young labrador in a storybook house on the edge of the world, a walk from the coastal path and two steps from Hartland Abbey, famed for its bluebell woods and garden. From the big airy guest sitting room with brown leather sofas to the dove-grey dining room candlelit at night (Cathy adores to cook) all is as neat as a new pin. Upstairs are three top-notch bedrooms: thick carpets, deep beds, gleaming tea trays and, in the Mill Room, views of just-mown lawns. Blissful seclusion – all you hear is the stream.
