You’ll find plenty of space to spread out downstairs in a roomy open-plan living/dining space with a big old oak table for convivial meals, lots of books and games and a wood-burner (logs provided) to snuggle up by on chilly days. Kitchen cupboards have the basics but you’ll also enjoy a bottle of something from Sharpham vineyard just down the road and freshly cut flowers.
Walks from here are excellent – you’re on a promontory with soaring views and stunning sunsets – so head off towards the estuary, Tuckenhay or even Totnes if you’re feeling hearty. Beautiful Bantham beach is a short drive for fabulous winter walks or summer picnics and a walk across the causeway to the Pilchard Inn when the tide is out.
Hire bikes and cycle along a purpose-built path to Totnes (half an hour) for independent shops and cafes; return to a barbecue in your own garden, an al fresco supper and a big lawn great for yoga.
