The
Experience
It’s a house for coming together with friends. Light the firepit and sip cocktails from the drinks cabinet up on the rooftop garden; stack your presents under the dressed tree at Christmas and roast giant marshmallows on the fire. There’s room for 11 in beds and at the dining table – children will love the triple room on the top floor. Kitchen cupboards are stocked with essentials to get you started, and you can spill out to the garden for meals on sunny days. You’ll find poker for grown-ups, heaps of DVDs for snug evenings in, beach games, buckets and spades, binoculars and books.Check out dinghy sailing in the harbour or hop on the ferry to East Portlemouth Beach. There are walks all around: up to the restaurant atop Gara Rock, or down the road to Cranch’s to fill pockets with sweets. Après sea at the Winking Prawn, with sandy feet, popcorn shrimp and gin and tonic in a paper cup.

Location
The neighbourhood
Set back from the harbour on a very narrow street, the house overlooks the bobbing boats and out over the bay. Great eats are a short walk away: start mornings with breakfast goodies from the Bake House and frothy cappuccinos from Salcombe Coffee Co. Stock up on all sorts at Cranch’s Pantry – local veg and homemade jam, plus truffle cheese and preserved lemons. Hop in the car for weekend suppers at the Beach House at Milton Sands – BYOB, kids can play in the dunes – or nose-to-tail cooking at South Pool’s Millbrook Inn.
Local points of interest from Freya Thompson
- Walled Garden with stunning 180° views of the harbour and across rolling green countryside. Newly landscaped in 2017, luscious beds combine with mature magnolias, flat lawn and wonderful lighting.
- Equipped for alfresco fun with lovely Oka Outdoor Dining table and chairs. Huge luxurious sun loungers and a stunning fire pit seating area.
- Pitchford House offers luxury and privacy in prime position at the heart of beautiful Salcombe, moments from the shops, restaurants and beaches.
- Daily cleaning can be booked at an additional cost should you wish and a gardner comes in weekly.
- The house itself is newly refurbished and interior designed throughout in peaceful tones and luxury finishes.
- There is no parking available at the house itself. We provide a parking permit for the long stay car park at the bottom of town.

Introducing
Freya Thompson
It’s a family affair at Salcombe Farm – Felicity and Charles bought it years ago, running B&B and breeding Dartmoor ponies, and now Freya and Freddie have taken over, managing the self-catering barn and treehouse and planning future projects. Freya also manages Pitchford House in town – she’s lived in Salcombe most of her life and has a wealth of knowledge about the area.
